Lately I have become an ebay addict. Wednesday I went in to ebay and out of curiosity searched on the words World Trade Center. I was horrified to find that there were at least (at the time) ten ads to sell newspapers (in mint condition) about the World Trade Center and Pentagon. As of this morning they are all gone. There are a couple ads for WTC related items but as you try to open them, it says the items have been deleted.

I assume that ebay deleted those items and if so, my congratulations. It takes a heartless no good low life to try and make a buck on a tragedy like this. Kudos to ebay for taking them away.....

I had heard about this on NPR, I think it was as early as Tuesday evening. They said it was happening on several "internet auction sites" but mentioned only eBay by name, to say eBay was removing the pages as fast as they were put up. Good for them!

A young lady on one of my Civil War lists was auctioning ribbons on eBay to donate the money to the Red Cross. She said she got a lot of hate mail from it. I don't doubt that her intentions were only good, and that she really did mean to give the money to charity. Others are not so scrupulous, of course, and I think eBay was right to cancel all such auctions.

Twin Towers stuff is going to be a hot collectors item, and rightfully so... but yes, I think people need to wait on this just a little bit.

Ah, C'mon folks- you're in Restraint of Trade!! In the Age of Dumbya (voodoo economics take two) we have to let the market operate freely! As the conservative element here and elsewhere will explain to you commies, pinkoes (pinkos?) and fellow-travellers, you shouldn't be over-regulating commercial activity, and certainly not artificially stifling the natural action of supply and demand! We're supposed to promote entrepreneurship! These people on E-Bay and elsewhere are real entrepreneurs in the best American tradition of profiteering from dasaster, pain, and suffering. They're stepping in to supply a very active niche market, but a risky one, for the demand is probably going to be short-lived as there are enough fragments and ghoulish relics to glut the market in short order. These folks are investing their own capital in a very risky venture- should probably be eligible for a Small Business Loan, or other government subsidy. Instead of slamming them, you should be bidding these items up! Remember, we've got to spend ourselves out of the current market downturn! Do your part for America!
