Try and get in touch with the organisers of Haddenham Ceilidhs or Dragon Music, both in Bucks. Depending where you are, you aren't too far from London to get to Cecil Sharp House (I know one person who does it from Thame area....), or get in with one of the myriad morris teams in that area - Haddenham, Towersey, Owlswick, and many others.

If I hear of anything, I'll let you know. I have a funny feeling there's a folk day coming up at Haddenham sometime this autumn.

Of course, if you are the other side of Bucks, this won't help much, but it's a start!

There seem to be 2 separate threads going on this - several people replied to Michael's post on 7 September on "RE Help Bucks events" (can't do clickies yet, sorry). From October there will of course be monthly Haddenham ceilidhs in Haddenham Village Hall on the first Saturday of the month, including Haddenham Folk Day on 1 December.

There is also a monthly evening music session, with some singing, at the Red Lion, Coleshill, (off the A355 between Amersham and Beaconsfield) usually on the first Sunday of the month, but occasionally on the second Sunday to avoid clashes with festivals.

Michael, your other threads are still there: see

Help: Bucks events (click)

Help: Bucks (click)

To find threads that have dropped off the bottom of the list, go to the filterbox above the thread list on the main forum page, select 3 days (or however many you want) and click refresh.
If you type Bucks into the filter box at the same time, it will only bring up threads whose title contains that word, over the period stated.

Good luck with finding your way around. More info is available in the FAQ, a permathread which stays at the top of the thread list.

many thanks to all you folks who replied to my quest for folk music in Bucks. Its only now that I have got to read them, and I left the UK in May 2002. I'm now living (for good) in Minneapolis Minnesota USA, so if any of you folks are planning to vist, let me know and I'll steer you in the direction of some really good music. Sincerely, Mike Bonner

Yes - Tudor Folk CLub in Chesham, Bucks. Web site here.

Also, second Thursdays on each month, an informal free singaround in The Black Cat. Next one this week - 9th January.

Have fun!
