Subject: Whisky Before Breakfast From: chip a Date: 17 Sep 01 - 01:39 PM Anyone know where I can find a clawhammer banjo tab for this tune? I've looked at the few websites I know of and come up empty. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Chip A. WhiskEy Before Breakfast |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Whisky Before Breakfast From: Bev and Jerry Date: 17 Sep 01 - 02:38 PM We think it can be found in Ken Perlman's book entitled Melodic Clawhammer Banjo. We found a reference to it in his other book Clawhammer Style Banjo. Bev and Jerry |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Whisky Before Breakfast From: BanjoRay Date: 17 Sep 01 - 06:43 PM Neither of those tabs is for clawhammer - for some reason not many three finger style tabs tell you that that's what they are - you have to struggle with them for a while till you realize they're impossible. I bought a Mel Bay banjo tab book for the tunes on the Fuzzy Mountain String Band CD - the CD banjo style is good old clawhammer, while the tabs are all for three finger style, with no hint anywhere in the book that this is the case. Sigh! Good luck with Whiskey Before Breakfast - its not the world's easiest banjo tune. Cheers |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Whisky Before Breakfast From: Oversoul Date: 17 Sep 01 - 10:06 PM Take the time to learn some scales! You will be rewarded. Most clawhammer tabs are "jughead" texts. Trust me, you can learn a heck of a lot from melodic and bluegrass books. They might force you to play in positions you might have never considered, but you don't have to stay there! Dynamics and a knowledge of the fingerboard are no sin, these are the things that are keeping this style of banjo interesting. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Whisky Before Breakfast From: Charcloth Date: 18 Sep 01 - 09:28 AM if you don't mind giving me an address I could tab out for you my clawhammer arrangement And mail it to you. Then you could work it out to suit your playing. I would have to do it by hand & I have no clue how to post it. I'm not as good with computer stuff as I am with banjo tab. you can PM me if you like with the details. Charcloth |
