Canadian children's entertainer Ernie Coombs died today. Most of us Canucks remember him as Mr. Dressup, from the TV show of the same name that ran from the sixties until 1996.

And great fondness too from Sophocleese.

I grew up knowing one of the script writers for his show and met the man a couple of times. He was as gentle off screen as he was onscreen. There are many, many children in Canada and some other parts of the planet with happy memories of him.

I grew up watching Mr. Dressup.

I had the opportunity to meet Ernie Cooombs on a few occassions. He was as nice off screen as he was on.
