Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Come Back Liza From: raredance Date: 25 Sep 01 - 09:04 PM The song is on Belafonte's classic 1956 "Calypso" album and also on the first Carnegie Hall concert. It is credited to Lord Burgess and Bill Attaway. They were listed for several of the songs on "Calypso" including "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)" The Travellers Three recorded a version called "Hoi Mai Liza" on their "New Sounds" album. It's the same song except they translated the chorus into Hawaiian. A Home-made recording was done by the Dave Guard Trio ind the days before the formation of the Kingston Trio. That recording is included on the Bear Family box set "Kingston Trio: The Guard Years" rich r^^ |

Subject: ADD: Come Back Liza^^ From: IanC Date: 25 Sep 01 - 10:30 AM It's here. Come Back Liza
Every time I'm away from Liza
Come back Liza, come back girl
I remember when love was new
Come back Liza, come back girl
When the evening starts to fall
Come back Liza, come back girl
Standing there in the market place
Come back Liza, come back girl
In the shadow I stand awhile
Come back Liza, come back girl
Every time I'm away from Liza
Cheers! |
Subject: Come Back Liza From: GUEST Date: 25 Sep 01 - 09:57 AM I looked through the DT for a song I heard Harry Belefonte sing, years ago. The song is "Come Back Liza" - does anyone know this song? The song says, "Every time I'm away from Liza, water come to eye" etc. |
