Well I finally did it. Got Paltalk installed, my speakers and microphone works, at least to this point, and with the full understanding that I have asked this before - When will the next circle be? And how exactly do I access it? Thanks so much - Peace - Steve

Watch out for the UK contingent on Thursdays. It's been pretty good the last couple of weeks, starts around 9.00pm BST, and goes on till the last one gives out.

Look forward to hearing you! Does your cookie indicate a biker hiding in our midst again?

The "Toledo" folk music sessions (listen only) are becoming pretty frequent ... details are usually posted on Mudcat

There used to be Sunday evening sessions as well.

I still frequent the "Live & Unplugged" rooms on Paltalk. Jon Freeman has it right. You have to poke around a bit to find rooms you like. There are perhaps a dozen rooms that often have folks from a list of 40-50 regulars playing. (And yes, Jon, we have missed you lately.)

There is a new beta version of Paltalk which I have downloaded. The most significant feature addition is video. While I do not have a camera yet, if someone is "publishing" you can see as well as hear them.

While the coziness of the "Mudcat only" rooms is not there (although anyone could open a private room and put the password in a thread and I am sure mudcatters would show up), there are some really terrific people there, not to mention some great talent, too. Admittedly, much of the music is kind of acoustic soft rock rather than folk, but they always seem willing to hear me sing a blues tune, or Dave the Ancient Mariner sing a shanty, or Jon Freeman to amaze everyone with a reel on his banjo.

Bottom line is open your mind and join the fun. It is very easy to set up a room. Once you do, you can pretty much "control" the content. If you want it to be folk music, advertise it in the banner as such. If someone sings/plays non-folk, simply remind them that it is folk-only. People often stop in a "live" room and try to do a karaoke number. Once they realize it is live-only, they simply move on to another room to have there own brand of fun.

Hope to see you all there.

Yes my cookie is another biker. Actually the same old one but in a new venue. I don't have a clue what I am doing so it ought to be interesting at the least! I was playing around last night just trying to get the listening down to a volumne that was palatable. I have no idea how to modulate the microphone so it works OK yet. Guess I will just have to find a space and try it out.

Paltalk even managed to let me keep the Norton1 designator for my "handle" there. We'll see how it flys - My wife is convinced I'm nuttier than when she marriead me! I don't play in public so why would I play on a computer - good question - maybe the anonymity of it. Thanks bigchuck for the info - I'll do my best to keep up with what is happening so I can sit in and listen to you all.

Last but not least - I think I better figure out when 9 PM BST is in Idaho.

Peace - Steve

Just got my new PC up and running - after removing all the cards and putting them back in again, it's now running for extended periods. So it's time to download Paltalk and get to it again... :-) You may see me tonight - I may just be listening though, since I don't have my mixer with me.

Graham.

I'm unable to sign on to Paltalk, and they haven't responded to my emails ( I think it's because the server I originally registered with is out of business, I changed the info, but still no go). Can someone tell me how to erase the cookie so that I can simply start again??? Please??? I miss getting on, but everytime I start the cyber run around I close up in disgust.

Tinker, the Paltalk entries are in the Windows Registry not stored as cookies. What happens when you open Paltalk?

If you get as far as the opening screen, you can enter <New User> (or select it from the drop down list) and click on "sign on". That should take you to the form where you can create a new membership.

If you can't do that, you will have to edit the registry (I'll find instructions if you need them - don't mess with it unless you know what you are doing) and possibly uninstall and re-install Paltalk.

Jon, Hopefully I haven't messed up already. Paltalk pulls up and starts to automatically start. Then it tells me my saved password is incorrect. The proceedure to get your password requires an email which they will only send to the registered email address ( dellnet.com no longer exists). So I went into the pop up registery and changed my email address, but every attempt to email through their clickie comes back unavailable. I tried emailing directly, but have gotten no response. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but as soon as It begins to come up, the old information comes up with it.... Suggestions...I've missed you guys...

OK Tinker, you get the countdown thing. Just click in the box to the right of where it says "How do I" (in the list box) That will stop the automatic logon and give you time to try to set up another account as per what I've suggested.

Oh and Tinker, if all else fails, you'll have to follow a procedure like this.

Thanks Jon,

I had to go through the long process, but it was worth it. I didn't sing tonite, but it was great to be back.
