Okay. Guilty as charged. I've been singing this song for quite some time now and I don't know who wrote it. The lyrics are:

As I was walking down, I heard my father say, "you'd better take time in life, you got far way to go."

Chorus: So people take time in life, people take your time, people take time in life you got far way to go.

Then verses with mother, sister, brother, etc.... Any help?

Hi, David! I use this at school, I'll check the source tomorrow but I believe it's trad and from the Bahamas or ???. It's a great song.

Hi David--

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the song, but thought I'd borrow the thread to say HI! Haven't seen you in ages but I remember some good times when you and Daisy and the Boarding Party guys (and me!) got together. My old friend Lois Lyman gave my a copy of your CD on which you recorded her song about the Wiscasset Schooners -- very nice stuff! Hope to run into you one of these days!

The song is originally from Liberia according to several songbooks I have with this song in it.
