Well, the weather's getting cooler here in the mountains and the leaves are slowly technicoloring, and Frank asked me last night when we were going to do another concert. So.....I am soliciting performers for the fall Paltalk Concert series. You can do a concert yourself, with some friends, or do a theme concert involving several people as Frank and I did with Utah Phillip's songs last spring. Days and times are open and flexible, and the Mudcat Concert Room on Paltalk is available (and no longer passworded). If you are interested, let me know, either in this thread, by PM, or by e-mail (moorse@together.net). We had a lot of fun with these last year and I hope can continue this winter. I'd like to start the series about mid October. Get those hands up now.
Sandy

*whimper* I can no longer get a fast enough connection to broadcast for PalTalk. boo-hiss!

*sigh* at the moment I can still listen - on good nights.

I've purchased a mixer and dug out my old Shure mic so should be able to improve on what I was doing with you all Thursday - with that in mind I'd be willing to do one - Sandy knows what type of music I like - so I could do one on old train songs if you wish - or just an amalgam of songs I like - I am on Mountain Daylight Time so remember that when scheduling, if you'd like me to do one that is, I'm unsure when we go back to regular time. And what amount of time would I need to cover? Let me know - Steve

Steve,(and any one else) the Cat Concerts have ranged the gamut from theme concerts to original stuff to whatever. I usually let the performer choose the length and times, last years series was at 8:00PM EST on Thursday nights, although some started earlier to be more accessible to the European members. Generally people went for 50 min to a bit over an hour, again with some exceptions. Yup, I'd be happy to schedule you for one.

We think we have the technology to lead a rather strange adaptation of the CatConcert, but time to do it is kind of tricky.

We (me, Hardi, and our jam pals) do gospel singalongs around the community. We would do a Mudcat one when we can get the gang together, and do it from our house. We would set up a list of items first, in a thread, so people could get their music or DT links in order. Or we could post the songsheet of choruses-only that we use for the people's parts, that would be easiest, eh? Heck, I oughtta post that anyway.

We'd say what key we are playing in too so people could play along. Can't promise diversity on this one-- we have a setlist all worked up and rehearsed and that would be it. I think it runs about an hour depending on how many verses we include on each piece.

Any interest in this? It would be a February thing I think. Too busy till then. And we would try to include some of our MudGather pals that want to be here as well.

Please let me know.

~Susan

PS, MMario........... come on down! Do yours from here!

Anyone want to ask Seamus to do one from here? He passes by on the way to and from gigs. It would be a BIG thing to ask, I think...

Susan, I think that's a neat idea. Plan for it, and let me know when you'd like to be scheduled.

Maybe the Moo Band might be up for it, perhaps in the New Year, but European timing would be better for us.

Keep us posted!

Ali, all you need is a PC with a mic and Paltalk setup. The Paltalk info is available in the FAQs. Mooman, the European schedule is fine, just let me know when you'd like to schedule it.

OK Sandy. Have to talk to the gang and let you know. Hardi agrees February is best. Best night of the week for us'ns is a Friday. Maybe the third Friday.

Sandy,

Unless you consider that I've hogged the European side of this too much, I could do another concert in late October or early November.

Let me know.

Alan

Sandy, the third Friday is our regular jam night but we have to be a little loose on the date this far ahead-- there are diocesan things my husband has to attend, and the schedule doesn't go that far yet. So we will need to confirm as we get closer, and I have to check with the band.

But I did post the singalong sheet last night! *G* And we are looking forward to it!

It's going to be very loud and fun-- better get set for a shout to drown us out! (Invite your folk friends over that night!!)

8 EST would put it at 6 my time. I could do that I think. It's not a lot of time from work to here but I think I could squeeze it. 7 would be better but I'm willing to accomodate what works best for everyone. I know the West Coast would probably appreciate 6 their time, 7 mine (MST), so they could be involved.

I think October the second or third week would be fine for me - or anytime after that, and Thursdays are fine.

I've never done a solo show - so this is exciting! My first concert? Wow - who would have thought it!

Anyone with some experience with mixers I could use some advice on how to set up for one of these. Maybe get with someone one on one and get the sound set right in the concert room prior to the actual deal?

This is so cool - Peace - Steve

That's probably a good idea Steve. Or you could try when Toledo's room is open. People use all sorts of setups that seem to work. I'm running an AKG C1000 condenser mike through my Tascam 4-track, but I've also used a variety of pro quality dynamics with good results as well. You do need to be careful not to overload the input stage of your soundcard, though.
