There is a Celtic Festival in Amarillo on Oct 6/7 2001. This has been a great festival over the last few years, and offers some great music, demos, workshops and vendors. I hope any Mudcatters within reasonable driving distance will try to make it out there. I'll post links and more details in a few days.

I know this much; the Celtic Festival & Craft Faire is held on October 6 & 7, 2001 at Tri-State Fairgrounds, in Amarillo, Texas. I have link to their website (CLICK) which seems to be non-functional tonight, but I suspect the site will be operational soon, so please check it out anyway.

The music will include; Ed Miller, Eammons Kitchen, Lintie, Red Mc Williams, and me!

We've had major problems with the "77th.com" website address. Just in time for the festival and now that it's been printed on everything. [Heavy, martyred sigh placed here] Using the long address will get in (at least as late as this posting):

Meanwhile, from the news release:

Amarillo's 4th Annual Celtic Festival and Craft Faire to support the High Plains Food Bank

By bringing two cans of food for the High Plains Food Bank, you can take a dollar off any paid admission to this year's Celtic Festival and Craft Faire to be held in and around the Rex Baxter Building of the Tri-State Fairgrounds on October 6 and 7. Also on site will be a Red Cross booth. The festival, produced by the League of Celtic Nations, will feature live concerts on both days from Ed Miller, Lintie, Red McWilliams, Michele Buchanan, Texas Highland Pipes and Drum, Eammon's Kitchen, Amarillo Early Music Ensemble and Jerre's Merry Fiddlers. Irish step dancers and Scottish country dancers will perform, while on tap are activities and workshops for adults and children. Celtic foods, jewelry, music, art, and more will be on hand, as well as booths of Clan representatives to share the history and culture of the Celts, and a booth hosted by Alison McGachy of the John Muir Trust, Edinburgh.

A genealogy workshop will be held Saturday, with other workshops on Celtic culture and music being held throughout the festival weekend, as will Sheepdog demonstrations and Society for Creative Anachronisms demonstrations and activities. A Saturday night Ceilidh (jam session)and a Sunday morning Kirking of the Tartans are open to all musicians and to festival attendees.

People unable to attend the festival but wishing to donate to either the High Plains Food Bank or the Red Cross are welcome to stop by the festival admissions booth to leave their donations in recepticles which will be provided by the charities.

For more information, contact the League at P.O. Box 1397, Amarillo, Texas 79105-1397, www.angelfire.com/tx5/lcnamarillo, e-mail: lcnamarillo@yahoo.com, or their answerphone: 806.374.4243.

P.S. Any Mudcatters showing up, check by the fairgrounds Friday evening after 7:00 for the possibility of an audience-free ceili...
