Click on "E" in the blue DigiTrad Lyrics Search above, scroll down, click on "El Paso," click on "Next Entire Page" two times, and you'll get it.

Alternatively, click here: EL PASO.

BTW, for those with Paltalk, have a listen to Francy/ Frank Of Toledo. I love his version of this song (as I do with lots of his singing).

Jon

Someone goofed. That second chord out of the D should be an Em.

Kendall, it appears to me that the notation being used works like this:

Major chord - caps, e.g E

Minor chord - lower case, e.g. e

I agree with you kendall. Here in this part of Oregon if you are backing up a fiddler on this tune you had better put an Em in after the D or they will rap their fiddle around you head.It gives the song the Mexican touch.Louie

I have watched Marty Robbins do this song, and he uses an Em. I also hear it loud and clear. Jon, I'm not familiar with those notations.

I'm not either Kendall but looking at it, it appears that was how the writer was trying to indicate the minor chord - the E is the only one in lower case and that usage is consistant. As for the chord itself, yes the D definately has to be followed by an Em.

I think it is a great song BTW.

I sang this at a song circle - amazing what you can do with enough wine. Remembered all the lyrics...to Tom's dismay.

Marty Robbins is one of our best western folk singers....Call him what you want, but this is truly American folklore......Check out his 1962 song "Man Walks Among Us".....Frank of Toledo

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys
Off to my left ride a dozen and more

I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle
I feel the bullet go deep in my chest

I always figured she shot him - she was the only one out front.

I love this song.
