Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ElPaso by Marty Robbins From: kendall Date: 30 Sep 01 - 01:57 PM Someone goofed. That second chord out of the D should be an Em. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ElPaso by Marty Robbins From: Jon Freeman Date: 30 Sep 01 - 02:27 PM Kendall, it appears to me that the notation being used works like this: Major chord - caps, e.g E Minor chord - lower case, e.g. e Jon |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ElPaso by Marty Robbins From: Louie Roy Date: 30 Sep 01 - 04:08 PM I agree with you kendall. Here in this part of Oregon if you are backing up a fiddler on this tune you had better put an Em in after the D or they will rap their fiddle around you head.It gives the song the Mexican touch.Louie |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ElPaso by Marty Robbins From: kendall Date: 30 Sep 01 - 05:52 PM I have watched Marty Robbins do this song, and he uses an Em. I also hear it loud and clear. Jon, I'm not familiar with those notations. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: ElPaso by Marty Robbins From: Jon Freeman Date: 30 Sep 01 - 05:58 PM I'm not either Kendall but looking at it, it appears that was how the writer was trying to indicate the minor chord - the E is the only one in lower case and that usage is consistant. As for the chord itself, yes the D definately has to be followed by an Em. I think it is a great song BTW. Jon |
