Subject: where's the trouble? From: ddw Date: 02 Oct 01 - 09:05 PM Is anybody else having the same problem I am? Almost every time I open a thread I have difficulty getting back to the forum home. Sometimes the little purple clickies won't work at all and I have to resort to either the "back" or "go" functions. I thought at first it was just something wrong with my computer or the mouse, but I switched machines and it's still happening. cheers, david |

Subject: RE: where's the trouble? From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Oct 01 - 09:09 PM Hi, David - you're in primetime now, so everything on the Internet is slow. Be careful about clicking too often when you post - you've got mega-multiples posted. -Joe Offer-

Subject: RE: where's the trouble? From: Susanne (skw) Date: 02 Oct 01 - 09:20 PM I open a new window for every thread I want to look at. That way I can read them offline (having to go back online if I want to post) and go back to the thread list with nos hassle. Works well for me!

Sorry for the multiple postings, Joe et al, but I thought when the "waiting for reply" message switched off, it just wasn't working at all. |

Subject: RE: where's the trouble? From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Oct 01 - 09:30 PM Loki has been down or slow, so more people are on www and ragtime, also. To see if a message is stuck in hell, or it's just that the page is being slow to go over to the forum once you've posted, open a new window to one of the other Mudcat servers, while the slow thing is going on-- see if your message is in the forum already. Often it is there. I also, when this happens, do a quick copy and paste of the material in the post box. That way it's not lost if the thing never goes through, and you can put it in later. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: where's the trouble? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 02 Oct 01 - 09:32 PM Recently I've been finding this happens pretty often - things just freeze up, and typically I'll get a "connection timed out" message. So I go to my home page, where I have links (marked here, here etc)to all the Mudcat servers (ragtime, loki, shorty, dharma and www) , and Mudcat Help as well.
I just open up all four (or five, including the www link), in separate windows, and use the one which opens up quickest. And if none of them open up I open up Help to check if other people are having the same problems.
I also try to make a point of saving any long post I have written on my clipboard, before trying to send it,in case it crashes.
Doing it that way it's a pretty minor nuisance. |
