I assume the song is about this statue, on top of the dome of the Manitoba Legislative Building in Winnipeg.

The statue was made in 1918, so the song can't be any older than that.

There is an album by Andy DeJarlis, Kerr Wilson, and the Mitchell Parks Orchestra called "The Manitoba Golden Boy" (1971), and it contains a song (or tune) by that title. Other sources say DeJarlis wrote a "composition" called THE MANITOBA GOLDEN BOY?I assume that means it's an instrumental piece, not a song with lyrics.

If published sheet music exists, I'd think the one place most likely to have it would be the Millennium Library in Winnipeg, but I couldn't find it in their catalogue.

The story of The Golden Boy
From his 225-foot vantage point, atop the Provincial Legislative Building, Manitoba's 13 foot high Golden Boy dominates the capital city of Winnipeg.

Designated as a symbol of Enterprise and Eternal Youth he provides a fitting and unique symbol of the young progressive spirit of Manitoba.

His left arm carries a sheaf of golden grain symbolizing the agricultural wealth of the province. He faces north toward the vast vacation reaches of northern Manitoba, and the untold mineral riches of our great Pre-Cambrian Shield. His right hand holds high a torch symbolically lighting Manitoba's pathway of progress, leading to a bright and shining future.

The Golden Boy has experienced many adventures before attaining his present secure and dominant position. He was cast in the Barbidienne foundry near Paris, which was wrecked by bombs in the First World War. But, under the rubble he was found, unscratched. Subsequently he lay for two years in the hold of a troop transport as it plied the war zones of the North Atlantic.

Finally, when the war was over, he was landed in New York, then freighted to Winnipeg. He has become one of the best-known symbols of Manitoba.

Generally accepted - the melody, that is - to have been composed by Andy DeJarlis (prominent Metis fiddler from Manitoba, deceased).

Here are the lyrics copied from the PDF file. Thanks to birdlady for the link.

MANITOBA'S GOLDEN BOY
Andy de Jarlis, 1969

With his head way up high in the Manitoba sky,
He shines in the sun, till your work is done,
And he glows in the night as he proudly holds the light
That brightens our happy way of life.
He's the symbol of success, at the gateway to the west,
And he's our legendary pride and joy.
He's an idol by acclaim. May the Good Lord bless his name.
He's the famous Manitoba Golden Boy.
