Subject: securing permissions / LWatersons From: Erica Smith Date: 09 Oct 01 - 01:46 PM hi everyone: An odd question, in light of the fact that the overwhelming majority of Waterson material is trad! However . . . i'm mixing my album, on which a Lal Waterson song appears (Fine Horseman, from Bright Phoebus). I'm having a devil of a time securing a mechanical license granting me permission to release my version of the song. The copyright for the song is in Bee Bee music, which I presume is defunct and/or absorbed into Lal's estate. Have tried to get Waterson contact info from Topic (they said no), can't find a reliable address for Trailer/Leader, and the UK and US mechanical licence folks have said "not me" and "not now," respectively. This has gone on way too long, so I'm trying to go directly to Lal's estate. Does anyone have information that may be of help? Please feel free to PM me or email to ericamackenziesmith@yahoo.com. Once i get the license, i get to send the copyright holders some money! You'd think they'd want it! Ugh!! Thanks everyone, Erica |
