On the subject of "Es", it brings to mind a story told by the great Alan Bennett on TV some years ago.
The wife of a Yorkshire mill-owner died and he decided that she should have an epitaph on her tombtone. After much deliberation he decided that it should be "She Were Thine." Contacting the local stone-mason he gave the appropriate instructions. Next time he visted the grave, he found carved on the stone the words "She Were Thin." On the way home he called on the stone-mason and asked him to correct it, telling the chap that he had left out the "E". On his next visit he found that that words now read "E She Were Thin."

Ned. I only heard on television during a programme about Westminister Abbey which was commentated on by Alan Bennett who as you know is a Yorkshire man. I still find it extremely amusing and recall Alan telling it with a completely deadpan face.

Another welcome, this one from Albuquerque, New Mexico {not to be confused with anyplace in old Mexico}. As you're probably aware by this time, Mudcatters are mostly friendly {except at feeding time}, but beware of responding to stoopid comments from anyone named GUEST.

You may also wish to check out PalTalk if your interests include real-time singing, sharing and listening. There is quite a large UK contingent there, but my time zone is rather bereft at any convenient time of day.
