Subject: Bonny Love From: dlbmd@aol.com Date: 17 Oct 96 - 09:13 PM A song with scottish phrases about a man of questionable morals pursued by the woman who loves him. Chorus something like this "oh its love for love that I do want, love for love again, and its hard when I like ye sae well and ye nae me again bonny love, and ye nae me again." If anyone know where I can find the complete wording and perhaps the origin I would be most grateful. |
Subject: RE: Bonny Love From: dick greenhaus Date: 21 Oct 96 - 06:47 PM It's in the Digital Tradition.Try searching for Bonnie Love. Or BONLOVE. Scots tend to be erratic when it comes to spelling. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bonny Love / Bonnie Love From: GUEST Date: 02 Mar 12 - 01:46 PM I am also looking for the complete lyrics. It's on Tommy Makem's "From the Archives" CD. But with the Irish accent and the old style English it's hard to make out all the words. If you find a printed version, please let me know. Dahlia mountainyodelernews@gmail.com |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bonny Love / Bonnie Love From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 02 Mar 12 - 02:09 PM For those that don't know how to handle the DT, here's the copy that Dick was talking about above: FALSE LOVER WON BACK (BONNIE LOVE). The words seem to be very similar to the ones Tommy Makem is using in a clip I checked. There's also another copy: THE FALSE LOVER WON BACK (2). Mick |
