Subject: RE song chords "Waterboy" by Jimmie (folk) Rodgers From: GUEST Date: 18 Jun 20 - 10:22 PM Hi everybody. I'm Tony and I live here in New Zealand. My email address is: willyandanthony@gmail.com - I'm desperate to find someone who can give me the chords to the song: "Waterboy" by Jimmie Rodgers, the folk singer NOT the country & western singer. Can anybody help me please ?? Also, I have a railroad song by "The Easy Riders"(Terry Gilkyson) called "Six Wheel Driver", I have tried to obtain the chords to this song also but alas, no luck there either !! Is there anyone who can help this old but very keen folk song singer ?? I have just started to learn the acoustic at the ripe old age of 83, (wife tells me I'm crazy !!??) Kindest regards. Tony Lawson. |

Subject: Lyr Add: MY VOICE IS CHANGING (Jack Clement) From: Jim Dixon Date: 08 Aug 16 - 06:39 PM My transcription from YouTube (see link below). Lyrics in parentheses are sung in falsetto. Lyrics in brackets are sung in a bass voice. The rest are sung in a normal tenor or baritone(?) voice. MY VOICE IS CHANGING* Written by Jack Clement (who was sometimes called "Cowboy Jack Clement") As recorded by Jack Clement, 1962. Now I've got a problem; it's about to get me down. Ev'ry time I try to sing, I feel like a clown. They say I used to sing like a bird—unquote— But lately something strange is happ'ning to my throat. 'Cause my voice keeps (changing, you see). [Yes, my voice is] (changing on me). Oh, I feel like a fool and my life is a wreck, 'Cause my (voice keeps) [chang]ing on me. Poor me! Poor me! They had a show at school yesterday, And I got up to sing and play. There was a girl that I thought I could snow When she heard me sing on the amateur show. But my [voice kept] (changing on) me, Slippin' and [slidin'] (on) me. Now I can't show my face and my life's a disgrace, 'Cause my [voice] keeps (chang)ing [on me]. Poor (me)! [Poor me]! * Title as given on this YouTube video where the image of the record label is shown. The same title is also given in Billboard and the Catalog of Copyright Entries. However, YouTube has several other recordings, by various artists, that are called "My Voice Keeps Changing on Me" or "My Voice Is Changing on Me." |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: Joan from Wigan Date: 01 Feb 02 - 02:16 PM I'm still searching for this. A 'Google' search has brought up references to recordings by the Lorne Gibson Trio, Noel Crombie, John Hore and Graeme McCardle, but still no lyrics. Anybody?... Joan |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: Joan from Wigan Date: 21 Oct 01 - 02:46 AM At the risk of causing confusion - "refresh" again... |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: Joan from Wigan Date: 20 Oct 01 - 02:56 AM It 'refreshes' the thread by posting a message, thereby bringing it to the top of the forum and preventing it 'falling off' the bottom, which happens if there's no posts for 24 hours. I could have just hit the 'submit message' button without writing in any message, which would have had the same effect; but if someone does that it can look as though they'd intended saying something but hit the button too soon. So although I've nothing to substantially add to what's gone before, I want to keep the thread 'live' in case it catches the eye of someone who hasn't yet seen it and may be able to help, as well as those who've already been good enough to post to it. Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: GUEST,Callie Date: 17 Oct 01 - 10:24 AM Damn - I've checked the likely cassettes and can't find it. The song isn't on the cd of "rarities" that Split Enz put out. And I've recalled that the song itself was the single for them. The 'b side' was "Ninnee Neez Up". I will keep trying other leads for you. If you don't check Mudcat regularly, feel free to PM me your regular e-mail address. cheerz Callie |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: GUEST,guest -nz Date: 17 Oct 01 - 01:07 AM I first recall hearing this sung back in the late 60's (New Zealand). I'm sure it was John Hore (now known as Grenell)'s 1st hit. He was a teenager at the time, which added to the humour. IF Split enz did it (as another nz group), this where they would have filched it from. Tried to track it down - no luck so far, but I'll keep trying.

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: GUEST,Callie Date: 15 Oct 01 - 06:51 PM You're in luck! The song was a 'b' side on a Split Enz single which I remember buying for a schoolfriend. Craftily, I recorded it onto cassette before giving the gift!! Now I just have to wade through my cassette collection to find it! Hang in there! I also remember seeing the film clip back in 198X and have that on video tape (same deal - need to look for it). From memory, it was Noel standing in front of timpani a lot of the time. This is why I can never remember people's phone numbers. My head is full of this stuff! Give me a few days! Callie |

Subject: My Voice Keeps Changing On Me From: Joan from Wigan Date: 14 Oct 01 - 01:49 PM I've been asked to find the words and chords of this song, recorded in the sixties by the Lorne Gibson Trio, and in 1983 by Noel Crombie (ex Split Enz). Can anyone help please? |
