Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: Anglo Date: 16 Oct 01 - 06:11 PM For the Carthy/Waterson clan, Garry Gillard has a great site with all the lyrics at: http://wwwmcc.murdoch.edu.au/~gillard/watersons/ Maybe "guest" will tell me I should learn to do a blue clicky. I would tell him to get a life. Cheers, J. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: Harry Basnett Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:31 PM I suggest our previous un-named "guest" learns to control his/her aggression. The advice is good...the delivery technique is somewhat lacking...on behalf of the majority of Mudcatters, my apologies SandyB. Best wishes and good luck with your search...the song is 'The Seven Virgins' or 'The Leaves of Life' and can be found on the Waterson's 'Frost and Fire' album. Harry. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:22 PM Go to the Digitrad Lyrics Search box at the top of the threads page (the one back from the actual thread), type in 'seven pretty maidens' in the search box and hit go. This should bring you to several titles, some in blue (or whatever colour your machine colours links), the one you want is there... Have fun looking at all the others!! LTS |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:17 PM Sorry about that Sandy - there are some very rude people here. Try varying the spelling if you can't find it... sometimes things get spelt incorrectly when they are entered and it can gum up the process a bit. I'm familiar with the search engines, I try to use them but when time and access is limited it can be difficult. Posting a request like this does mean that you can come back to it immediately when you next log on. Please try and forgive Guest, manners are not his/her forte. LTS |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: Erica Smith Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:16 PM ooooh . . . . sounds like we have a mr. grumpy pants in the house today! FYI I oftentimes have trouble locating things I *know* are in the Digital Tradition, can't find threads I contributed to, etc. Sometimes multiple/variant searches help -- sometimes not. Sounds as if this person might be new to the DT. Thanks for scaring her off! Trad music needs more nice folks like you! (Sandy -- I'm sorry, I haven't heard the song in question, but it sounds quite beautiful. If you go to Mudcat's homepage you can type a key phrase into the Digital Tradition search engine, and see if it comes up with anything.) now let's all turn that frown upside-down!!! Erica |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Watersons? From: GUEST Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:08 PM For fuck's sake. Learn to use a Search Engine What is wrong with you? www.google.com is probably the best. it's also in the DT See that little blue box that says 'Search Lyrics' Oh, never mind Learn to do something for yourself, please |
Subject: Watersons? From: GUEST,Sandy Brown Date: 16 Oct 01 - 05:02 PM Hi I am trying to find some lyrics for an old English Folk song that I'm pretty sure was sung by the Watersons and it is about christs crucifiction. It starts something like " Under the leaves, the leaves of life, I met with virgins seven and one of them was Mary Mother, our Lords best Mother in Heaven. Oh Why are you weeping, you seven pretty maids, all under the leaves of life? We are weeping for no leaves Thomas, but for a friend of thine"" Something like that anyway. anyone who can help, I'd appreciate it Ta Sandy B |
