Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: Peter Kasin Date: 21 Oct 02 - 03:06 PM Have a great time at Cookfest! Agreed that the Magpie's seafood is fantastic. For vegetarians looking for meals in Whitby, the Magpie Cafe also has a vegetarian shepherd's pie that is worth the wait. Here's some advice on when to go to the Magpie to avoid the long lines: When it's closed.:-). Say hello to the Shellbacks from me. Wish I could be there, but too much going on here. Best, Chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: Tyke Date: 21 Oct 02 - 08:56 PM Tyke here I can tell you that Coblers Monday will be in the Endevour for most of the weekend. Mick Haywood usualy kicks off the Captain Cook Festival at the Whitby Folk Club on Wednesday Night at the Plough Inn Baxtergate. Coblers Monday Picked up some posters and Hand Bills on Friday after we had performed in Middlesbough at Doctor Browns. The info had only just been printed that day. "No Comment!" Normer Waterson, Deric and Dorathy Elliot, Chris Parkinson, are on the programe. I havent got the full details as the programe that I put in my Guitar case I gave to someone at the Music Port Festival in Whitby last weekend! I intended to pick up another but I was distracted by the beer in the Tap N Spile on the Sunday Night. Others in Whitby have details as we did deliver leaflet's to First the Endevour on Church Street, Then the Captain Cook Museum ( Mick Green of Coblers Monday is the man to speak to there ) The Tourest Information Office in Whitby, Dorathy Elliot was putting up posters all over the place on Sunday Night. Should all else fail try the Coblers Monday Website via the Mudacat links page or http://uk.geocities.com/aaardvark001/. That will give you the email address for Coblers Monday where Mick Haywood who along with Angi his wife runn the Whitby Folk Club. OH AND THIS YEAR INSTEAD OF OR AS WELL AS YOU CAN HAVE A RIDE OUT ON THE MINI ENDEVOUR. WEATHER PERMITTING WHERE YOU CAN SINGALONG TO THE COBLERS MONDAY CD Whitby Cured. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Captain Cook. Mine is a pint of Broadside Cheers George Clarke |
Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: Abuwood Date: 22 Oct 02 - 03:05 AM Oh no Alio! Please don't tell me we have to march up and over all weekend to that place where nobody goes, I don't know if my legs will stand it! We hope to see you Friday in the Endeavor but I don't know what time. Mum is in hospital in Hull at the moment, she may come out Friday and if she needs us we might not get there until Saturday. But we both have Friday and Monday off work, are you staying Sunday night? |
Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: alanww Date: 22 Oct 02 - 05:23 AM Looking forward to being there for Sunday (can't make Saturday, as Navy Cut are singing at Swinton FF in Manchester). "Joys are flowing like a river ...!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: Alio Date: 22 Oct 02 - 05:53 AM I know what you mean Ali - I hate the thought of walking up there twice on Saturday too! I'll just have to take extra fortification with the Jamiesons! No, we're staying Friday and Saturday nights, as we're both in work Monday, unfortunately. Think Bill and Theresa are doing the same, but not sure. They came over on Saturday to help us bid farewell to the stewards at the Con. Club, as did Noreen and Alan. There was some lovely singing. Hope your mum goes on OK - see you in the Endeavour. Ali |
Subject: RE: Captain Cook Festival From: Abuwood Date: 30 Oct 02 - 11:27 AM Well we had a great time, as we always do, and so did the 3 people who bought tickets. I think I recognised a few faces on the fringe, Les & Maggie... where was Linda? Especially enjoyed the Sunday Night Folk Club at the Tap & Spile, hope to see you next year. Shellbacks will be in America so we will just be able to enjoy the pubs without the hiking over to the Spa! |
