Subject: Where is Tarwathy From: BretonCap Date: 18 Oct 01 - 10:28 AM Farwell to Tarwathy is a very well known song but I was asked last night "Where is Tarwathy?". I don't know the answer. Do any Mudcaters know where it is Dave |
Subject: RE: Help: Where is Tarwathy From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 18 Oct 01 - 10:44 AM Discussed only a few days ago, as it happens. Full details (and the original text) are in this thread: Tarwathie |
Subject: RE: Help: Where is Tarwathy From: GUEST,"Troubador" Date: 29 Apr 07 - 09:19 AM It's not Tarwathy, it's Tarwathie and it's in the Aberdeen / Peterhead / Fraserborough area of bonne Scotland. The person in whose persona the song was written was probably a fisherman - if the song was writrten today he'd be a roustabout or tool-pusher. |
Subject: RE: Help: Where is Tarwathy From: John MacKenzie Date: 29 Apr 07 - 09:25 AM He was a whaler Troubador, there were many boats went whaling from the noth east of Scotland. Bonnie Ship the Diamond was sailing from Peterhead, not far away. Giok |

Subject: RE: Help: Where is Tarwathy From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 29 Apr 07 - 10:03 PM See the earlier thread, as I recommended 5 years ago. "Troubador" has merely resurrected an old, forgotten stub in order to repeat information which was already here in a more accurate and detailed form. People who don't know any better do that regularly. Occasionally new and worthwhile information comes up as a result, but usually the exercise is just a pointless waste of time. |
