Hi Guys
I'm learning this tune 'Walking In My Sleep'. I got it off the Mountairy.USA CD but the lyrics are not written out. Anybody know where I can find the lyrics? I did look on the Lyric Search but couldn't find them. Mind you every time I ask on a thread, someone finds them on the search so go figure. But I did try, really I did.
Would be mighty thankful for some help here.

Nope, that ain't it. The version she wants is older than that by a long shot, my favorite is by Bill Clifton. Here are fragments: Walkin' in my sleep, babe, walkin' down that Dixie line, If you see that gal of mine, tell her if you please, when she makes those biscuits to roll up her sleeves. Thanks a whole bunch for trying Sorcha.

Major appreciated Dale. I tried to open the sound file but I there was some sort of problem. Not too sure. I will try again, but at least I can now start working on singing this tune. I would like to share it at the Toronto Song Circle this Friday.

Sorcha, I didn't mean to imply that YOU should have looked there first, but that I should have looked there first! The Motoya site is a really good source for bluegrass/old time lyrics. It is just that I haven't been looking for anything much lately, too busy.

I will send Bonnie an RA file of the song by Bill Clifton, maybe even later tonight, though she knows not to hold her breath where I am concerned.

Neo, When I saw the thread title, I was going to post the lyrics. But I see that isn't necessary. The version I sing has already been posted. One of my favorite songs.

Some folks say that I actually do walk in my sleep, masquerading as a fiddler. Eh, but what do they know? ;-)

II thought about starting a new thread, but will give this a try ffirst. I've been trying to figure out the lyrics to the Prairie Ramblers version of "Walking in My Sleep" for some time. Their version also seems to have different lyrics than posted here and others I have found. It tells a story about a guy walking into his girlfriends room in his sleep "with no clothes on". Her husband is there, so he runs out into the street "with no clothes on". The cops chase him, he ends up in jail "with no clothes on". It really is quite funny.


I just can't make out the chorus and several of the versus from the recording that I have.

It sounds something like:

Walkin in my sleep,
Walkin in my sleep,
Wasn't going to take a four day trip
Walkin in my sleep.

As you can tell the band also sings "With no clothes on" throughout the song.

Can someone help, and post the lyrics? If you have the chords and can post them too, that would be like putting icing on the cake.
