Subject: Lyr Add: BINGO ('Down on the Bingo Farm') From: GUEST,Vixen @ Work Date: 24 Oct 01 - 10:43 AM Well, I was so inspired by Sandy & Caroline's "Song Collecting" workshop at FSGW, I decided to try my hand at collecting--well, sort of anyway--I sent an email to my dad and asked for some words! My dad taught me this version of Bingo when I was small, and you can imagine my surprise when the version everyone else knew was the one in the DT. Dad and I both know the melody, but I don't know how to post that here. Here 'tis, with his commentary...

She said she didn't love me.
Her face was like a coffee pot, There's more, but I forget. We used to sing it a Camp Collier when I was a boy scout, and when we lived at Lake Massapoag in the summers when I was little, we sang it around the fire at Weenie roasts out on the mud flat when the lake went down about 3' every summer. (Leaky dam, depression, no money to fix it, & it was raining porridge & everybody had their dish out. The good old days.) Enjoy... V |
