Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: GUEST,GUEST: Morticia's Secret Santa Date: 02 Nov 01 - 12:23 AM HO, HO, HO, my sweet Morticia, Santa hasn't forgotten about you! I've just been awfully busy reading all these messages from the nice people here at your Mudcat Cafe! Santa is finding all kinds of treasures to send to you from far away shores! You just keep being the good person you are Morticia and I promise you won't be disappointed! Santa |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: GUEST,Guest, Noreen's Secret Santa Date: 02 Nov 01 - 12:10 AM Well, I ordered the main gift yesterday. Something kind local to So Cal, maybe a little greenish. Will add in little bits and pieces, but I can't send you the sun (it hit at least 80 degrees Farenheit today.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Blackcatter Date: 01 Nov 01 - 11:08 PM Thanks Santa Sinsull - My family never celebrated Christmas. We gave each other presents and had a wonderful mean and sang secular X-mas songs, but only to celebrate the joy of family and partly to make it easier for me when I went to school and was asked about the presents I received. I never was taught to think of Santa as a real person and grew up considering him to be a Christian analogy for Jesus that children could understand. (i.e. - be good all year long and receive your reward from the all-knowing, loving Santa). At this point in my life I celebrate Yule for myself and give friends presents for whatever holiday they observe. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Allan C. Date: 01 Nov 01 - 11:04 PM Karen, you are a gem! That is above and beyond. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: KarenB Date: 01 Nov 01 - 10:47 PM SharonA, Ask and ye shall receive...... I sent a PM with instructions for those who haven't done so yet. I suspect that they haven't been back here and don't realize all of the fun going on! KarenB |

SANTA LIVES
I AM YOURS |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Sorcha Date: 01 Nov 01 - 10:02 PM Sinsull, I said anything I DON'T already have......I have (currently) 4 cats, 4 Corgis (dogs), 1 possum, 1 son, 1 daughter (that seems like 4) and 1 husband. I don't need no damn litter of anything!! (grin) Rocks are fine--they don't need food, clean clothes or clean litter boxes..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: SINSULL Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:56 PM Gee, Sorcha. Make it easy for Him/Her! If it's me, you just opened yourself to a litter of kittens! Serves you right. Merry Christmas! BlackCatter, I am totally confused. Your parents were atheists, so no Santa? Is Santa god? That would explain a lot. SINS,also an atheist. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Sorcha Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:22 PM Oh, I am so glad I checked in here......yes, indeed my SS, I did miss that. At least I know I truly have one. Send anything you like dear, including more rocks, esp ones big enough to live in the yard year round.
I also don't have DeDannan's "Star Spangled Molly" and always need a "dusting/vacuming elf". Glass cleaner and furniture polish provided. (Oven is self cleaning--just turn the knob)
Someone to carry out the garbage when it stinks would be nice, but I doubt if you can manage that, or a new elbow so we'll let that pass. Most anything I really want I already have, so just suit yourself, OK?

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Blackcatter Date: 01 Nov 01 - 08:20 PM Let me join the chorus of Santees who wish to know if their Santa is around. If I don't get my present until the end oc December, that's fine (though, I'm more of a Solstice kind of guy - and that's when I open the rest of my goodies). I don't need witty comments, hints or anything like that, just a reassurance that Santa exists. This is the first time I've believed in Santa ever - my parents never did the "from Santa" thing, since they were dyed-in-the-wool Atheists. pax yall |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: catspaw49 Date: 01 Nov 01 - 07:38 PM I'm reading. I too am trying to figure out who's who. I gave my -tee a hint but it was wondefully abstract, the kind I love. Only caught one mention from mine so far...This is entertaining. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: katlaughing Date: 01 Nov 01 - 07:31 PM ditto, plus it would also be nice if the giftees would let us know they've been reading along, too; not much fun without participation from both sides |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Noreen Date: 01 Nov 01 - 06:58 PM Just a note saying you're there would be nice... *sniff* |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: GUEST,Someone's Secreta Santa Date: 01 Nov 01 - 06:25 PM Just wondering what you're expecting to hear from your's. Some Santa's are witty & good at dropping hints, etc. Some are not & don't know how to join in the banter. Christmas is still far enough off that you can hardly think you're not going to get anything thing. Maybe your hints were enough of a clue so there are no questions. Or Santa's going to get you something particular regardless of your clues. Don't cry about Santa forgetting you until it's Dec. 26. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: SharonA Date: 01 Nov 01 - 05:59 PM Suggestion: Perhaps KarenB could PM all Secret Santas with instructions for logging out and posting as a GUEST – and logging back in again – and could advise everyone that they're being requested to post to this Hints thread (some of them may not even be looking here, if they've read their Santees' hints already!). How about it, KarenB? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: katlaughing Date: 01 Nov 01 - 05:24 PM WOULD ALL THE REAL SECRET SANTAS PLEASE STAND UP? Those os us who haven't already? Maybe they don't know how to LOG OUT and sign in AS GUESTS?*BG* |

Those naughty Santa-catters will be getting coal in their stockings on Christmas Eve! So, be good for goodness' sake! Ho Ho Ho! Santa, President & CEO, The North Pole Inc. P.S. – Oh yes, and please don't leave out any more of that skim milk for me. I've got to watch my figure — can't let myself get too thin, or I'll be out of a job! Ho Ho Ho! |

(All the worms around here seem to be hibernating, but there are lots of ladybugs. Too crunchy, though.) Must drive to civilization and go shopping for the individual I'm Santa-tizing. At least THEY'RE gonna get something! Humph - bah, humbug. ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Jeri Date: 01 Nov 01 - 11:29 AM I'm almost tempted to make one of those little charts and try to figure who's whose secret santa. based simply on who isn't. I honestly don't think I have one! |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Fortunato Date: 01 Nov 01 - 11:28 AM "I don't know doo doo, myself, Watson, except that my secret Santa is female, lives in the US, is fairly tidy, tends to procrastinate, is very sensitive and kind, self-critical, and probably lives in the Northeast." |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Fortunato Date: 01 Nov 01 - 11:25 AM Good, Santa. Now. As for the guessing: "Ahem, Watson, attend. 1)You will note the typically American phrase in the first post: "Check out your house" 2)You will note the enjoyment in thinking about the present giving. 3) The repeated emphasis on the joy of shopping. 4) Along that line Santa describes self as "a good shopper". "Well Watson what are your conclusions?" "Egad, Holmes, I can make nothing of it!" |

And besides what makes you think that I'm NOT a tall, titan-haired, buxom, chorus girl type!!! *BG* Oh Lord, if you could only picture that one!! ROFLMAO!!!!!! Harry (Damn, I just can't stop!!! *BG*)

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: SharonA Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:56 AM Hooray!!! My Secret Santa got my "letter" (after a bit of confusion; that's okay)! I never stopped believing in you, Santa! :^) And you're "on the other side of the pond", eh? Does that make you more properly my Secret St. Nicholas? *scratching my head in bewilderment* I know you thought Bat Goddess's post was mine, but I still don't understand what "Marigolds" are or how they relate to rubber. I work for a seed company, and they have a giant inflatable sunflower in a pot (one of those god-awful things they put in front of stores to draw in customers), but no rubber marigolds. Is it slang for yellow rubber gloves? Just curious. BTW you're right; rubber's not my passion! Please give Rudolph and Olive (the other reindeer, the one who used to laugh and call him names) a tickle behind the ears for me! I'll be watching for your sleigh to land on the roof of my local post office!! Being just as good a girl as I can be (only had two beers last night!), Sharon :^) :^) :^) :^) :^) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: katlaughing Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:50 AM Mortee, me, too AND my giftee hasn't answered any of their SS postings I've made! C'mon, everyone needs to play, right? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Kim C Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:49 AM Has anyone confirmed they will post photos of people with their gifts? I still have a PhotoLoft album and will be happy to post them there, if anyone's interested. PM me and we'll see what we can work out. :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Fibula Mattock Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:46 AM I got my parcel today! And yeah, I opened it! Many, many thanks to my Secret Santa - Mary in KY. She has sent me a great t-shirt, an "I love fossils" sticker (I do!) an educator's book and postcards (I especially love the one of the mountains), all to do with the Falls of the Ohio State Park. It's a fantastic gift, and so lovely to see the area where another Catter lives. THANK YOU!!! Right, it's time I started posting to my Secret Santee. I'm off to a conference in S.Africa for the next 12 days, so I'll try and get it mailed before I go. Thanks again Mary! This Secret Santa thing is proving to be a great success - and a lot of fun. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Fortunato Date: 01 Nov 01 - 09:45 AM To Fortunato's Secret Santa: After rereading the posts above, yours and KarenB's, I regret my guessing game post above, though I don't know if there is any connection. Mudcat and the Getaway I have just returned from have made me rather cavalier about MY identity and real and assumed name (Fortunato). I'm naturally gregarious and open, and inclined to make friends easily and keep them forever. Like my father and Will Rogers, I never met anyone I didn't like, though some more than others. But I do realize some folks would rather remain, Santas and otherwise, anonymous. Those folks are entitled to that. I meant my post to you in fun, but please understand I have no interest in guessing who ANYONE is who doesn't want to be known. Those that want me to know will tell me. No, I don't recognize any of the names you signed, I haven't a clue who you are, Mudcat name or otherwise. OK? So let's go on with the fun, Secret Santa, I'm really looking forward to the surprise. I've had a great time with my giftee, and made a friend. What could be better! Regards, Fortunato. |

HO! ...and a very merry Christmas to you We Santa's don't get to work until after Halloween on principle - too risky with all those trick or treaters about When I saw you wanted rubber I thought about a pair of Marigolds (washing up gloves to you on the other side of the pond) but maybe I'll try something more original You will just have to WAIT AND SEE

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Ella who is Sooze Date: 31 Oct 01 - 06:11 PM lol ALison... I did ask if I could open it before christmas, anyways I'm glad I did, I needed cheering up! Well, I am about to send mine off to my Santee soon, as soon as I can get myself into gear after this weeks happenings. Blackcatter, don'g give up! Cooo what fun, it's the best secret santa I've done, all the ones at work are soooo boring. Though they are all bah humbugs this year. Still playing the chicks... |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: GUEST,Alison's Secret Santa Date: 31 Oct 01 - 02:39 PM Ho Ho Ho OH! you wanted Sean CONNERY! I tried to send Sean Penn. He has a, I mean, FITS into a much smaller package. By the way - I was told that the package could take 4 to 6 weeks to get to you - something about waiting for a prision ship to Botany Bay, though that could have been a joke... I do suggest that you free the fellow I did box up - he's looking forward to a trip to the beach when he gets there - got any nudist beaches near you? He'd rather go in the buff. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Fortunato Date: 31 Oct 01 - 02:34 PM You are no idiot, Santa. But I think you'reb trying to pull the polyester over my eyes, Frank/Bob,eh? You are indeed unknown to me, however I do love playing detective. Care to drop a few hints as to your true identity? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: GUEST,Fortunato's Secret Idiot, uh, I mean Santa.. Date: 31 Oct 01 - 02:05 PM I had a very nice conversation with KarenB, a PM conversation that is, and we have agreed that I am in fact an idiot. However, since there seems to be no way that Fortunato could know my identity, luckily I am still an anonymous idiot.....but never fear Fortunato, I may be an idiot but I am still a good shopper!!!! Bob (Damn, did it again!!! LOL!!!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa HINTS THREAD PART THREE From: Kim C Date: 31 Oct 01 - 01:38 PM I am almost ready to send my things off to my person. I am quite excited about it. I have ribbed him a little bit. His hints were pretty good, though, so I didn't have to ask too many more ????????? I dare say my hints were pretty thorough too. But Santy, I have to tell you, I will not wait until Christmas, should my goodies come early. :-) Those of you who have shipped already - how have the mails been running so far? A friend who works for the post office told me that things usually pick up around the first of November, and surface mail overseas can take 30-60 days. Airmail doesn't take that long, but of course can cost a lot more, depending on how much your package weighs. With shipping and all I will probably go a little over the limit, but frankly I don't care. I am just enjoying the opportunity to do something fun. |
