Here's a link to a news article about FBI plans to centralize all email for easier wiretapping. I know we've been round and round this, but I just wanted to point out that this stuff is coming, and it isn't going to get better. And for all those who say "Well I don't have to worry about this because I'm not a terrorist", think about your friends who might be union leaders, or political activists, or Muslims, or even folk musicians. With everybody waving the flag, it's easy to forget that among the things the flag stands for are freedom of speech and the right to dissent.

Scary, isn't it?
there are those who believe that this is necessary in order to fight terrorism and maybe they're right, but the potential for abuse is overwhelming. Just think what McCarthy or J. Edgar Hoover would have done with that kind of power at their disposal.
The only saving grace is that there is a time limit on most of this anti-terrorism legislation. Lets hope that it is honored.
