Subject: Duke Univ. Conference on Public Domain From: T in Oklahoma (Okiemockbird) Date: 30 Oct 01 - 08:42 PM Duke University and the Center for the Public Domain have organized a conference on the public domain in so-called "intellectual property" law, to be held on November 9-11, 2001. Featured speakers include Yochai Benkler, Lawrence Lessig, and James Boyle. The conference home page is at http://www.law.duke.edu/pd/index.html. A draft of Professor Boyle's paper can be found at: http://www.law.duke.edu/pd/papers/boyle.pdf Professor Boyle opens his paper with the following humorous rhyme:
The law locks up the man or woman
The law demands that we atone
The poor and wretched don't escape
The law locks up the man or woman T. |

Subject: RE: BS: Duke Univ. Conference on Public Domain From: GUEST Date: 13 Nov 01 - 10:16 AM The conference appears to have been well-attended. Here is the Slashdot discussion of the conference. (By the way, almost every time I read a Slashdot discussion, I again feel thankful for the existence of the Mudcat.) Here is the entrance to the discussion BBS.
