Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: GUEST,alanww Date: 05 Nov 01 - 03:39 PM If you are up to getting up the following morning, Teresa and Noreen and ..., you could try the session on New Year's Day at the Blue Boar at Temple Grafton near Stratford-upon-Avon. From 12 noon onwards the Shakespeare Morris Men will be dancing then performing a mummers play then music/singing until everyone decides that they have had enough! All folkies welcome! We're one, two, three jolly boys all in one line ... |
Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: brid widder Date: 05 Nov 01 - 06:39 PM There's usually an excellent week long session in Whitby for New year...mostly based in the Tap & Spile...I can't make it this year...new Grandchild imminent....but there are a million worse ways to bring in the New Year! |
Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: treaties1 Date: 05 Nov 01 - 07:09 PM Thanks alanww , great idea but a bit too far, for a daytime trip , it's really the midnight Happy New Year bit were hoping for. brid widder, fond memories of past Whitby New Years, though tinged with the horrors of being frozen to death in our flat, also been to Whitby twice this year. Still woth bearing in mind though. Noreen would be great to have you tag along, and no need for small voice. Watch this thread you never know what delights may be on offer just brush up on "Here we come a wassailing among the leaves so green2 (I must learn where the italic button is). cheers Theresa |

Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: Linda Kelly Date: 05 Nov 01 - 07:43 PM May try Whitby, the cottage is available at the mo- just a bit on the pricy side but the acoustics were great weren't they? |
Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: Dead Horse Date: 05 Nov 01 - 08:23 PM If anybody fancies a trip to deepest darkest Kent, then Whitstable Hoodeners are doing various pubs in the Thanet area from Nov-Jan and all are welcome. The "daft bit" only lasts for 15mins, then we sing stuff and play stuff and invite others to join in/lead with stuff and we imbibe the odd flagon or three. Very boring really, don't know why we do it? Will postdates & venues when I get told, I'm only Betsy, so I'm last to know!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Any U.K New Year singing sessions From: Gervase Date: 06 Nov 01 - 05:31 AM There's likely to be a New Year's Day sing at the Crown at Buntingford, Herts, at lunchtime. For a long time there was a good sing at the Cabinet Rooms in Reed, on the Herts/Cambridge border, but the curmudgeonly landlord ensured that it died out - hence the move south down the A10 to Buntingford for last January and (hopefully) this coming one. |
