Subject: Cowboy Music: Johnny Western From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Nov 01 - 01:48 PM Our local newspaper, The Wichita Eagle noted the naming of Johnny Western to the Western Music Association's Hall of Fame. A brief biographical release is included. I particularly like Johnny's distinction between "Cowboy" and "Country." There seem to be few of us left who remember the difference. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Cowboy Music: Johnny Western From: Kim C Date: 07 Nov 01 - 02:10 PM This ain't BS! At least not where I'm concerned. I got to see Johnny Western host the Midnight Jamboree back in February, with my hero Don Edwards on the bill. Man o man, was that EVER a show! While there may be a little bit of "cowboy" in "country," it's true they aren't the same, not by a long shot. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cowboy Music: Johnny Western From: DougR Date: 07 Nov 01 - 02:12 PM I love cowboy music, and you're both right of course. Lots of similarities to early country music, but different. No realation at all that I can see to modern country though. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Cowboy Music: Johnny Western From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Nov 01 - 02:18 PM Johnny Western hosts one of the radio shows we catch fairly often here in Wichita. Sometimes we forget that he (and Oatman - also mentioned in the article) are truly national personalities. Gotta start showin' more respect. John |
