Subject: Names changed to protect the innocent???
From: Linda Kelly
Date: 08 Nov 01 - 05:00 PM

Have decided to join the real world and use my real name as my Mudcat name -so Ickle Dorritt is no more! Of course, many of you may wish to continue to call me Ickle or in Micca's case Dorritt -I will not ignore you -for indeed, I have been known to answer to anything!!!

Oh well, everything comes to an end...

All the best to you, Linda (somehow you sound older now - no offense intended)

I'm inspired to follow suit, and it feels good! 'Course, my last name is mispelled a little bit, but a lot of people like to call me Kelly anyway, so it's good enough. My surname is unique, so that Google will pull up bad jokes I told on forums eight years ago. I need to protect my freedom to say stupid things (without it showing up in a job interview, or something.)

You can all feel free to treat me as you would any other Guest. ;)

Dan K.

Dammit... I was working through Dickensian names to use. Picnic Paupers, Olive Twist, Great Expectorations, Our Mutual Fred, etc etc...Now we've all got to be our boring everyday selves.
From Matthew Edwards, being his boring everyday self.

Couldn't you just be No Name?

I like the fake names, myself. 'Real' names are hard for me to remember, especially all those 'Fred_B' and 'Betsy_G' type names.

I'm actually changing my real name to Lepus Rex, just to be an ass, so I guess I'll be in that club, anyway. >:)

To me you will always be Micca my sweet,Actually, one of the main reason for changing is the frequency with which I now seem to meet other Mudcatters in the flesh, which in Hull is an awful lot. It seems daft to speak to Mudcatters at a folk session using one name and to refer to myself by my proper name to non mudcatrers -it is also a little discourteous to both sets of people -but this is purely my own choice .

Linda, also since, of course when Jeri announced "Sparehand" at the Getaway, she said, " a song I got from Linda Kelly" not Ickle Dorritt, so you should be recognised as you for your great song, I listened to the recording of her singing it again today.. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Just you wait!! ( I know, you sing it beautifully, but a 3rd party singing it is a different dimension)

Korma is a little sweet for my palate but a proper vindaloo slips down a treat. You can try some of mine if you do not want a whole plateful.!!

Wait a bit. Does Hull ever use its real name?
& which county is it in? North Humberside, East Thirding or Just plain ordinary East Yorkshire?
Well if I used my real name would anyone believe it was my real name?
My pre-conception of an Ickle Dorrit was way off beam, but then I have a terrible name for faces!

Congratulations, Linda! Although there are several men who use their (presumably) real first and last names as their Mudcat name, you are the first woman, as far as I know, to do so. I say "presumably" because, of course, no one requires us to prove our identities when we sign up, and you might really be Bob Zimmerman for all I know. So your privacy is just as well protected as it always was.

I use my "real name" in all of my e-mail addresses -- boring but practical, sort of, since everybody misspells both my first name and my surname. (Linn Schulz)

I think I sign half of my Mudcat posts as "Linn" anyway and refer to Curmudgeon as Tom. Anybody confused?
