There are several lyrics where a "brown nose" is mentioned, e.g. Star of the county down, The Mero.

What means "when my nose was brown"?

"Star of the County Down" doesn't contain any reference to "brown nose" that I can remember. I could mention a couple of people on this Forum who are brown nose experts, but perhaps I'd better not.

'brown nose', used both as a verb and as a noun is nearly but not quite as rude as its German translation 'Arschkriecher/arschkriechen' (verbatim: arse crawler)

LMAO.....This may be one of the best (and newest) mondegreens yet!!! You really have to think of the meaning of brown nose (ass-kisser) and insert that in "Star".........LMAO still........This one's great!!!!

It is okay. I just remembered the phrase in "Star of the county down" in phonetical way. Nose and rose is phonetic similar.

About 20 years ago I read in a magazine that some left-wing European party had chosen for its symbol a fist holding a red rose -- except that it was printed as "a fist holding a red nose". I found the image and the symbolism delightful.
