Subject: Maglan & John in St Helena
From: Mr Red
Date: 10 Nov 01 - 01:27 PM

Princess Dinizulu and Prof John have landed in St Helna. They asked me to tell all friends. They have two cars already, which in St helena is going some.
By the by, everyone know everyone there so I left a message for them in advance on Radio St Helena web site and gave my actual e-mail address (OK I know now!)
I now have countless e-mails from (mostly) Nigeria about a large whack of dollars surplas to requirements that I could help them move out of the country. The story changes about from air-crashed millionairs to Agnes Sarawewa (cashing-in on a dead amn's name) and the amount rose smoothly from $9 to $23 million and is now back down to $16. I guess I will have to wait till the hoard gets down to $8M before they give-up.
Moral - don't leave your e-mail on a public guest book leave something like steve@flagstowear.com and maybe he will get his own back!

Here is a link to Radio St Helena with lots of pictures and some good sounds.

No pictures of the Princess and Prof John so far though. I see they've a section for pictures of "entertainments" so I trust that absence will soon be rectified.

Keep us posted. Better still, get them to log on here - the Mudcat needs them, and St Helena is no distance by internet.

"Rolling home to Saint Helena..." as Maglen used to get us all singing in Sidmouth and elsewhere.

Sorry about that. Me link evidently slipped its chain.

Anyway, here is Saint Helena News, with the sound track, and here is its Radio News page And here is the St Helena Home Page - confusingly enough based in Sweden, but with up to date stuff from both St Helena and Tristan da Cunha.

And ths time I'll come back when I've posted this and I'll check that the links work, which I normally try to remember to do.

Tangent to the thread. I received a money cow scheme letter from Nigeria that was so poorly set out that I actually wrote a revision and sent it to the guy. Maybe you received it in one of your emails.

Dicho
slapped wrist
literate con men we don't need, we have politicians for that.
the warning stands, unless you really need the spam be careful where you appear.
It is a moot point as to what it says about mudcat visibility BUT I ain't never had a spam traced to here and I have ways of knowing. Will tell Saints & Sinners (aka Princess & Prof) when I get the chance.

I was reading a piece that said that there is a strong suspicion that the grammar and spelling errors in those con emails are intentionally put in to make them more convincing.

Mr Red!

Give Tony and Pearls' love to 'Saints and Sinners' when you're next in touch and tell them that we're glad to hear that they've arrived safely. BTW, two cars? Why do they even need one? It's a tiny place!

Angina
I think the first car was in need of attention and it was a small postcard (of Boney's cottage and rock faces.) They did remark on the high price of everything as everyone grows their own food and makes do and mends. Regards - willdo - & mine to T&P.

yea - bad grammar - I did wonder if it was a sucker bet.

Small, but not that small - it'd be a fair walk from one end to the other, and it's pretty hilly. Here is a map.

Mr Red I presume that this is a permanat move on the part of John and Maglan. I have sent you a personal message with details of my e-mail if you could pass on to them as we have lost contact over the past couple of years. Thanks Geoff

And tell them to get to a computer with an internet connection - the radio is bound to have one I'd have thought - and tell us how they are getting on.
