Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: GUEST,Nick Date: 13 Nov 01 - 04:21 PM No, it is that sheep can hear a zipper a mile away! |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: GUEST,Fiver Date: 13 Nov 01 - 06:00 PM No, MMario, the melody was not Scotland the Brave--the first three notes are the same, but it is different after that--don't know the name of it, but at one time, the commercial featured lyrics that ended with the phrase, "for the ship that sails the ocean!" |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: Marymac90 Date: 13 Nov 01 - 06:44 PM Speaking of kilts, recently I heard a public radio interview of an author who was talking about Scottish infantrymen in World War I. They were called the "Ladies from Hell", and noted for their ferocity. They wore their kilts up until the time of the mustard gas attacks, when it was found that the kilts allowed the gas to collect near sensitive areas of the body and cause burns and injuries. Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: GUEST,MMario Date: 14 Nov 01 - 09:13 AM well - the clips I found and the tune I found all match with Scotland the Brave. Plus it matches my recollection of many of the ads. I suppose there are various versions. |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: LR Mole Date: 14 Nov 01 - 10:45 AM "Old Spice means quality Said the captain to the bosun So look for the package with The ship that sails the ocean (Faintly) Fresh as a breeze...(Full volume)Yo ho, yo ho." Of course, the "Yo ho, yo ho" part would probably be popular in the rap market today... |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: Marymac90 Date: 14 Nov 01 - 11:05 AM That's the jingle I remember! My dad and grandfather used Old Spice--it was a perennial Christmas, birthday, and Father's Day gift. Marymac |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: GUEST Date: 14 Nov 01 - 02:12 PM Hi Nick, it's called the Carmina Burana. |
Subject: RE: Tune ID Request: 'Old Spice Tune' From: MMario Date: 14 Nov 01 - 02:40 PM really? I don't think I've ever seen one this side of the pond with anything even remotely resembling Carmina Burana - |
