I'm wondering what the name of the tune is I used to hear In the Old Spice Comercials is. It is one of the most often played bagpipe tunes but I dont know the name. Thanks Nick

Hmmm, must have different adverts in the USA.

In the UK, the theme was from the opera "Carmina Burana"

No, MMario, the melody was not Scotland the Brave--the first three notes are the same, but it is different after that--don't know the name of it, but at one time, the commercial featured lyrics that ended with the phrase, "for the ship that sails the ocean!"

Speaking of kilts, recently I heard a public radio interview of an author who was talking about Scottish infantrymen in World War I. They were called the "Ladies from Hell", and noted for their ferocity. They wore their kilts up until the time of the mustard gas attacks, when it was found that the kilts allowed the gas to collect near sensitive areas of the body and cause burns and injuries.

well - the clips I found and the tune I found all match with Scotland the Brave. Plus it matches my recollection of many of the ads. I suppose there are various versions.

"Old Spice means quality
Said the captain to the bosun
So look for the package with
The ship that sails the ocean
(Faintly) Fresh as a breeze...(Full volume)Yo ho, yo ho."
Of course, the "Yo ho, yo ho" part would probably be popular in the rap market today...

That's the jingle I remember! My dad and grandfather used Old Spice--it was a perennial Christmas, birthday, and Father's Day gift.

Hi Nick, it's called the Carmina Burana.

"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana was the old spice tune in UK. Carling Lager did a spoof of it.
