Usually because you knock things you DON'T want, or things you DO want but can't have.

Which for many people leaves very little that doesn't fall into one of the above catagories.

I've never seen any of either one. I don't anticipate ever seeing any of them in the future.

The History channel runs GOOD reality tv... Pioneer Quest and the like...

No, Lionel, I wouldn't take it up as a hobby. I work for a seed company, so I tease borage for a living (it's part of the make-up and hairdo preparations for the photography shoots)!

SharonA - a traditional rustic handicraft not unlike Teasing Borage. I take it that you are not UK based since flycatching is well known in N America and Wold-Garbling is more local to the UK. Stealing more than a groats worth of teased borage was punishable in The British Isles up to the 19C by transportation to Botany Bay where the convicts were compelled to knit Botany Wool sweaters. (No, I'am just making it up, I hope that wern't looking forward to taking it up as a new hobby.)

Raptor, you should be well advised that threads about popular culture are ridiculed here, so it's a good idea not to even bother starting one. Most Mudcat people detest the fact that they own a car and not a ox-cart, let alone watch popular shows on a television.

I would think there would be more stress from being followed around by camaras.

Haven't seen more then a minute or two of any "Survivor".

I see this in a pub at closing time. The situation is more real and "beer goggles" sometimes make for some real comedy!

No, I havn't seen it. I usually fall into the deep refreshing sleep that comes only after pub closing time. Why do you need to know and what will you do with the information? If enough people replied YES maybe Survivor could have it's own dedicated TV channel and the resulting free slot could be given over to interesting rustic pursuits like flycatching and wold-garbling, if it was a lot of NO's it could be taken off the air altogether thus freeing up more time for flycatching and wold-garbling programmes.

I'm not watching it either. Like Jack, I took a peek at the Outback "game" (the first episode) and, after 20 minutes of watching people do nothing but walk through the brush, I concluded that it was a monumental waste of my time. I turned the TV off and played the guitar for the rest of the evening.

Life is short enough without whittling it away watching someone else's adventures from the sidelines. I'd rather go have my own adventures!

That's not to say that I don't ever watch TV! I do: mostly news, along with some relaxing light comedy plus one or two dramas, and historical/biographical profiles. But the only one of the recent Survivor-style-craze game shows that ever interested me was the first season of "The Mole." The second season isn't holding that interest.
