GIG CB! (The George Inn Giant Ceilidh Band) - England's biggest e-ceilidh band (plus French and Breton, which makes us a euro-ceilidh band :-) - is playing at Cecil Sharp House on Saturday 3 November for the Pudsey Bear 'Children in Need' Charity Euro-Ceilidh.

We have a mix of fiddles, accordions, concertina, electric bass, flutes, mandola, saxophones, trombone and bagpipes. And yours truly loves to tell you what to do!!!! Have a listen to some of the tracks from our two CDs (a third is on the way, but very slowly) on the website www.gigcb.com.

A fund raising day for Enable Scotland will be held in Montrose on Saturday June 14th.
Amongst the artist appearing will be celebrated singer songwriter Angie Wright who will be peforming songs from her two solo CDs and a few new ones yet unrecorded.
There are two concerts, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

They are at St. Andrews and Old Church Hall , Montrose.

First Concert is 10.00am through till 4.00pm

Angie is on 2.00 -3.00pm

Evening concert starts at 7.30pm.

SCARBOROUGH SEAFEST - Sea Cadets' Hall 2.00pm Sunday 20 July 2008.

After winning the Scarborough SeaFest Song for the Sea competition last year I am back by popular demand this year to present the documentary feature film "MAYDAY TUGS OF WAR" in Scarborough on Sunday 20 July at 2.00pm in the Sea Cadets' Hall. This film (which uses my song "THE SHORES OF NORMANDY" about my first trip to sea in 1944 as its theme tune) tells the story of the wartime Rescue Tugs and the men who sailed in them. It also has a couple of very good songs. Anyone interested in maritime history and the story of the men and ships who swaved thousands of lives and millions of tons of shipping, and who also built the Mulberry Harbours in Normandy, should see this film.

      Regretfully, due to ill health we are obliged to cancel the advertised appearance of Joe Whelan, Liam Farrell and Reg Hall (The Folk Diary Oct/Nov 2008).
       We are, however, fortunate that, at very short notice, "The Other Band" are able to stand in on this occasion so come along and hear Iris Bishop, Marilyn Bennett and Gary Holder with their unique and superb selection of songs and music. It will be a revelation to many of you to see Iris playing virtually non stop for she is also on duty with "Elsie`s Band"(she drew the line at running the bar though). Good Gracious!. Does this girl ever stop?
       We are to be found in "The Queens Arms" on the B2026, mid-way between Edenbridge and the A264 (Tun.Wells to E.Grinstead road). "Adnams" all the way (no lager sold here, see), no childrens room, free sausage rolls and if you wish to do your thing make yourself known to Tony.
