I only learned on Sunday of the death on October 24th of the Seanachai and actor Eamon Kelly. Born on the Cork/Kerry border in 1914 he died in Dublin. His brand of story telling continued the long tradition of the Seanachai and for many years he broadcast on Irish radio and television. His fame as an actor was mainly on the stages of the Gaiety and Abbey Theatres but in 1975 he starred with the late Donal McCann and Siobhan McKenna in a film adaptation of Brian Friel's play, "Philadelphia, Here I Come." Sadly missed. Go nDean Dia Trocaire ar a hAnam.

Sad news, indeed. Here's a link to his obituary in The Irish Times, for those who'd like to read about the life of this man who will be missed by many around the world.
