Help: Name That Tune.....? - Starship of Stone?

Way back in the 1960's (or was it the 70's.......? it's all a bit of a blur these days) I used to have an album (vinyl, of course) that contained a long instrumental piece that finished with some thoughtful lyrics. The final couple of lines were "Riders together on this starship of stone, Living together, trying together, dying alone". I have been focusing my fast dissappearing brain cells (I am bravely using the plural there....) for some time without any success. Can anyone help me with identifying the band/album/song please?

I was reliably informed by a friend that someone in this forum was BOUND to know the song/band that contains the lyrics in question.....are you guys going to prove my mate wrong? I am awaiting your responses with great interest.....

The song is SPACE HYMN by Lothar and the Hand People, from the album "Space Hymn" (1969).

Lyrics can be found on the Internet and a couple of videos at YouTube.
