Not having the good fortune to live in the States where Blues bands seem to be 2 a penny, I'm hoping somebody can tell me if there's a U.K. gig directory. Specifically I'm one and a half hours from London and, even more specfically, live in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

P.S. What's a mud rat? And what, if anything, does it have to do with the Blues?!

Mud rats is what swamp snakes eat on Turkey Day, because there ain't no turkeys in the swamp. Blues Bar in Kingley St, Soho, London, England has blues music every night (Picadilly Circus tube, up Regent St, 2nd right, first left, halfway up on the right) - see also personal message.

Dunno about a mud rat, but a mudcat is apparently a type of catfish. According to legend, it likes to jump out of banjos (banjoes?). I can't help with a gig list, but if you ever see Nicky Moore's Blues Corporation (or just Nicky Moore) advertised DON'T MISS IT. The guy is a little bit good. (Sorry, I'm trying to practice my understatement here)

Jagz in Ascot (Station pub next to -guess what- yes, the station) has blues one day a week, I think it's Tuesday. South Hill park in Bracknell have a weekly blues night, possibly Wednesday (unless I've got them the wrong way round). 100 Club in Oxford St often has blues, Paul Jones Radio 2 programme often mentions upcoming gigs, try the BBC2 website. Mudcatters Steve Parkes and the_one_and_only_Dai are Bucks-based so may be able to help with your locality.
RtS (white boy lost in the blues)
