Subject: Anyone got the words
From: bellamy@thehub.com.au
Date: 27 Feb 98 - 10:27 PM

I'm looking for the words to this great song.

"Somewhere along the road, someone waits for me" is the first and only line I have so far.

Anyone out there who can help?

SOMEWHERE ALONG THE ROAD
(Rick Kemp)

Somewhere along the road
Somebody waits for me
Beyond these present storms that blow
Waiting patiently
No secrets held in an open heart
A spirit that soars over mountains
Somewhere along the road
Somebody waits for me

Somehow a guiding light
Always shows the way
To those that lose their way by night
Searching for the day
A day away from happiness
Tomorrow will be a new sunrise
Somewhere along the road
Somebody waits for me

Sometime when winds are still
Unexpectedly
Perhaps beyond this silent hill
A voice will call to me
Raise your eyes to see my world
Raise your voice and sing out
Somewhere along the road
Somebody waits for me

Somebody waits for me

Subject: for Wotcha! Lyr Somewhere Along The Rd.
From: Kernow John
Date: 14 Nov 99 - 05:43 PM

Wotcha!
Came to Cornwall recently and we managed to visit and sing at three of our local pubs. He performs a mean shanty and took us by suprise with some different versions of familiar songs.
Here's one of the songs you asked for Brian.

SOMEWHERE ALONG THE ROAD by Tim Hart

Somewhere along the road,
Someone waits for me
Beyond these present storms that moan
Waiting patiently
No secrets held in an open heart
The spirit that soars over mountains
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me

Somewhere a guiding light
Always shows the way
To those who lose their way by night
Searching for the day
The day away from happiness
v Tomorrow will bring a new sunrise
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me

Sometimes when winds are still
Unexpectedly
Perhaps beyond this silent hill
A voice will call to me
Raise your eyes and see my world
Raise your voice and sing out
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me
Somewhere along the road
Someone waits for me

This song although written by Tim Hart while doing the chores and waiting for Maddy to come home can be used in a different way.
Marion and I sing this in chapel and whenever we do it fills me with a renewed confidence.
Regards Baz

BAZ,

Thanks ! Exporting the good songs to Kuwait, and as of this weekend to the hashers/Marathon runners of Bahrain ... (although hash and marathon don't belong in the same sentence generally speaking ...).

And I'll plug for BAZ and the good folks of Kernow (Cornwall). Some superb multitalented musicians down there: psaltry, mandolin, concertina, fiddle, banjo, guitar, recorder and Bodhran spring to mind. The perfect folk holiday !

Another shantyman, Dave of Hanging Johnny, is putting shanties on the map in the UK. Look out for his tapes. Meanwhile keep an eye out for some New York shanty acquaintances: Liam's Brother et al. Coming to a pub (Bodmin) near you!

Cheers, Allahamdalla, Brian

As sung by Maddy Pryor (sp?). I'd also appreciate knowing the songwriter, when written and any other info you might have. Thanks

Try this

This blue clicky should get you to a page with the lyrics, I'm afraid I can't help with the chords though at the moment.

Hi Dragonfly,

You may also want to visit a thread with some background information provided by BAZ. It is a nice song.

Cheers,
Allhamdallah,
Brian

It's also Maddy's solo track on the magnificent Silly Sisters CD, "No more to the Dance".

And, in case anyone doesn't know, Maddy is also Mrs Ric Kemp . .

Beautiful song!

G.

Are you involved with folk music in Kuwait? I lived out there a couple of years back and was very involved with the Ahmadi folk club. I'd love to know what is still going on out there.

Cheers

Glyn,
I havae been back in the USA for the past 2 years (wreaking shanty havoc on Chicago and now the DC area).
When I was stationed there (99-2000), we had quite a revival going. 2 different folk groups: one group, the older more established event, was run by the Irish crowd and included blues (with amplifiers no less). The second crowd was based out of folks villas and rotated duty every couple of weeks ... I think they still meet (I'll have to launch an email to the Hash House Harrier crowd ...).
Others, like me, have moved on to various parts of the world. I'll never forget the delicious irony of ANZAC Day when 3 of us sang for the Aussies and Kiwis -- not one of us was born in Australia (2 POMs and 1 Yank with an English accent ... go figure).
The Kuwait Theater (and Panto) still goes strong from what I have seen. Yep ... there's stealth culture in Kuwait!
Alhamdillolah!!

By the way ... BAZ ... see you in July ... coming to visit Cornwall and the West Country.
Cheers,
Brian

These lyrics have already been posted twice in the forum:
Lyr Req: Somewhere down the Road

and

"Somewhere along the road"

It's always worth using the Digitrad and forum search box before going to the trouble of typing!

I don't think they had been posted twice when I wrote these.
I think your first link goes to lyrics posted in 2001. This post has been refreshed from Nov. 99.
I couldn't get the second link up so couldn't check.
I always try and check before posting lyrics! John
