Hey, folks... If you're in the mid-coast Maine area (or want to travel), the Side Door Coffee House meets monthly (except July) on the third Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 15 Pleasant St., Brunswick. On Dec.21 we'll do a special $3 Open Mike Night. Folkies, jazz, poets, storytellers - we even had a juggler once, but the ceiling wasn't high enough!!! - kids, first-timers, pro's ... you name it. You get 8 minutes, and if there's time after going through the set list, we'll go through it again. Most months there's a first set open mike, and a featured performer in the second set. Featureds are picked from open mike performers and we split the take from the door for the night 50/50. No big bucks, but we have a good time and it's a nice community thing. FMI call 207-373-1526. Have a great holiday! (And if anyone out there has ever heard of a song called "The London Waits" PLEASE let me know!)

I'm in Portland, ME. Naemanson mentioned the Side Door Coffee House in a PM the other day. I know the Roll & Go folks from a ways back longer than I care to mention. I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds interesting; I'll check the calender and pencil it in if vacant that evening. Have been meaning to get up to one of those for years now - gotta just do it!

Been really slacking off on practice - this might just be the incentive to tune up & get back on track with that, too!

Thanx for the advisory / invite!

This seems to be a likely place for this:

It appears I have a buyer for my NYC apartment and will soon be up in Maine looking to rent a house or apartment and eventually buy. The catch: Five cats who will accompany me. If any of you know of a 2BR apartment coming available early February, let me know. Thanks,
Mary

I just thought I'd refresh this to see if there's any interest out there, and now I know that the third Friday of every month will be etched indelibly in my mrmory.

Meantime, I found my two bedroom apartment and may even make the February Side Door Cafe. Now I need a job...

Sinsull - that sounds great! And I understand the featured group in February will be Roll & Go, with their usual set of sea songs, plus winter drinking songs, and maybe a warped love song or two to honor Valentine's Day.

Great, Sinsull. Looking forward to seeing you there.

As an aside note, Joel is planning to come to the Coffee House this coming Friday. He has been pleasing The Portland Folk Club folks with his music for a long time.

Will Brett be doing a special Valentine's solo? Seems appropriate.
