My brother sent me a card that I liked a lot... Care deeply. Give freely. Think kindly. Act gently, and be at peace...for this is the spirit of Christmas. May your holidays be filled with all the things that matter most.

Well... I thought it was cool!

Happy holidays everybody. Love, Sharon

Hi Joe/everyone The use of the semi-colon instead of an apostrophy is as you all know an old english christmas custom from time immoral known to all and sundry as "O bother i've hit the wrong key again"

I was sitting in a little church in a Scots fishing village some years ago, watching Johnny Cash record a Christmas Special with the local schoolkids' choir (he took fifteen takes and make a mistake in every one.... they got it right every single time!)

I was sitting next to an American lady who said 'I love Christmas specials - we have so many in America, we have to start screening them in November to get them all in!'

As they say in Scotland about New Year: have a happy one when it arrives.

Gee Steve, I use almost the same saying for our place:

The Patterson's
Where an ill wind blows
From where the sun don't shine

As I spotted on a card in a stationary shop about three years ago...

May you enjoy the celebration of whatever particular holiday or remembrence that you choose on or around the actual occurance of the astonomical winter solstice.

or not.

It's season's - meaning pertaining to the season rather than belonging to it.

Logically we should say "season's greeting" all the year round, since it's always some season or other. Like saying "good day" every day, not saving it for Christmas.

Happy Winter then, everyone. And I'll save Happy Christmas for a few more days.

Technically ,joe ,I suppose the correct version should be SEASONAL GREETINGS as a season cannot greet... *BG*

But whatever it is I would like to say............

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MUDCATTERS EVERYWHERE

As I posted in another thread looking for this years idea
imagine an impressionist painting of Mont Victoire and beneath
Cezanne's Greetings
note apostrophe season is singular possesive as far as I know it is the festive season.

Greetings of all the seasons

Seasons' greetings

Greetings of the holiday season

Season's greetings

"Seasons" and "Greetings" together with no explicit relationship between the words and improper capitalization of the second word....In other words, the way the greeting card makers do it, cause it looks good:

Seasons Greetings

Merry Christmas Banjo-flower, Merry Christmas Joe.

Merry Christmas to you, Gerry! Did you use a semicolon in the thread title to avoid criticism from the Apostrophe Geeks? I confess that I'm kind of an apostrophe geek, too - and I'm never quite sure is there is supposed to be one in
Seasons Greetings/Season's Greetings/Seasons' Greetings
Whatever is the appropriate and politically correct think to say, I extend it heartily to you.
