Subject: I think this is real??
From: Jack the Sailor

A Republican friend sent this to me via the internet? Is it real? Are people actually this uptight?

The Clinton Presidency is over and this article reflects how its lingering stench is fast becoming a forgotten memory...

By Janet Parshall

A lot has changed since George W. Bush became president-executive orders that support a "culture of life," judicial appointees who respect the constitution and members of the Cabinet who are unapologetic about their Christian faith.

But perhaps nothing more clearly represents the new leadership we enjoy as a country than that place Mr. Bush now calls his temporary home-1600 Pennsylvania Ave. The president is quick to point out that it is not his house but the American people's house. And, as such, he treats it and the people who work there with respect. From the Secret Service to the grounds crew, the folks who work at the White House rave about the First Family.

The president and first lady prefer to entertain family friends in their private quarters rather than ask the stewards and waiters to negotiate difficult formal dining rooms. Harkening back to the days of Ronald Reagan, Bush will not allow any man to attend a meeting in the Oval Office without a jacket and tie. Gone are the days of blue jeans and pizza boxes.

One of the clearest ways to show respect for someone is to respect their time. Everyone who works with and around the president has noted his punctuality. Meetings begin and end on time. This stands in stark contrast to the previous occupant of the White House, who was notorious for keeping visitors and the media waiting. And speaking of the former president, in his administration more than 500 staffers had access to the White House kitchen. One presidential aide said they turned it into a fast-food restaurant. These days, only 150 senior staff members have meal privileges.

Of course the Clinton years were known for worse things than that. US News & World Report reported recently that it was common for President Clinton to have violent and sex-laden R-rated films playing on Air Force One. Even seasoned reporters would blush at the images being played out before their eyes while trying to question the president on some issue of national importance. A Marine who worked at Camp David publicly stated that pornography was littered all over the retreat. In contrast, President Bush has said that even some of the new major motion-picture releases, which are routinely sent to the White House for viewing by the First Family, are too vulgar for him.

I've visited the White House twice since President Bush moved in. As anyone might be, I was awed by the history of the place. Oil portraits of past occupants reminded me that some presidents have understood the honor of living there and others have wantonly dishonored it. My visits with President Bush at the White House were an opportunity to witness first hand how much this man respects the office to which he was elected. He arrived at our meetings promptly and took the time to greet every person in attendance. He was warm and polite to each of us. His manner conveyed the message that he knew he was only a temporary resident and his job is to leave this august home in better shape than he found it.

In one of my meetings, I made a point of speaking to a young man who is part of the military service assigned to the White House. His job is to escort guests and to help people find their way through the large hallways. His uniform was covered with ribbons and his shoes were perfectly polished. His face was emotionless and he drew no attention to himself, but for some reason he caught my eye. "Thank you," I said, "for the work you do. You really represent us all in your service here. It must be wonderful work." He paused and then allowed a big smile to cross his face. "Oh, yes, Madam. It truly is."

Yes, things certainly are different in Washington.

Is it real? Who is this writer and where are her sources' citations? It is an op/ed piece only, full of her opinions on the past and present occupants of the White House and does NOT reflect the way others may see it.

This is nothing more than a poorly written moralising piece of propaganda.

"Fight Club" or "American Beauty" on Air Force One, a lingering stench.... If reporters are so sensitive that they blush from R rated films. They should be working for entertainment tonight!

350 white house staffers have to go elsewhere for lunch. While 150 "elite" have access to the kitchen. Yep lingering stench.

"A Marine who worked at Camp David publicly stated that pornography was littered all over the retreat.".... No doubt covering every floor and every room and the grounds as well. The hyperbole police should arrest that marine for exaggeration. Maybe he/she was exaggerating about the pronography as well. It could have been Victorias secret or Sears underwear ads for all we know.

Common... Jeans and Pizza a lingering stench??

Tomorrow is casual day here, I'd better hold my nose! And if the president never keeps visitors or the media waiting, I tend to question his priorities. Don't emergencies ever come up. The only way a president could keep his schedule that clear is if he delegate EVERYTHING if he was simply a figurehead. Oh, yeah, Nevermind.

But kat, she's written books and is on the radio. She has unearthed the truth of the filth that Clinton enjoyed. I visited her website and it's so wonderful to see such a site in this day and age. She's even good enough to be selling the book of her undoubted friend, Barbara Olson, now deceased in the Pentagon crash, which tells the true story of the Clinton's and their abuses of power. Remember it was Olson who uncovered all the sordid details of Hilary and Bill and their sex lives and political dealings.

I am encouraged to see such a woman step up to the plate after the loss of Ms. Olson. Only in America.

Janet Parshall, who is quoted in the original post here as being the author of the above blurb, is a rather famous entity in the Christian Media. She hosts a radio show called "Janet Parshalls America" which is recorded here in the Washington D.C. area, but which is syndicated across the country. While very conservative, she is highly intelligent, and does her homework. She rarely makes claims for which she does not cite sources, and in those instances where her information *is* incorrect, she has made public pronouncements of it, retractions, and apologies. I heard her just yesterday announce she was wrong about some information regarding the downed American B-1 bomber.

I have no idea if this *is* her writing, but you could check her website JPAmerica.com to see if it lists anything there about it. I can tell you I have been personally very impressed with her public persona. She spoke out against Jerry Falwell and whatever his name is...the guy who heads up the 700 club quite sensitively and eloquently after the debaucle involving their stating that the 9/11 tragedy was because of Gays, pornographers, etc. Her Husband, Craig is a lawyer, and they have written several books together.

If I had to guess, I'd say it *sounded* like something she might write. Better to check with her website, or e-mail her show directly to find out for sure. If it turns out to be her work, you could also ask her to state her sources.

You don't have to go to the can with him Kim, just notice that the back of his pantlegs are always wet and his shoes are real shiny.

I had already the visited the Parshall website before I posted and I think it's undoubtedly her work. Any reporter of any persuasion can find a "reliable source" whenever they want and I'm willing to bet she has hers.

Celtic Soul

I'm not saying it is Janet, but whoever wrote this:

"A Marine who worked at Camp David publicly stated that pornography was littered all over the retreat."

was interested in something other than in fair, objective accurate reporting. Was this Marine a reliable source? On the face of it the statement is ridulous. (Did a planeload of Penthouse explode over Camp David?) So the best that can be said is that the author carefully gives credit to sources which may exaggerate to strengthen her point.

The problem with the article is not her sources, but the silly little things she is making such a fuss about. The Lewinsky thing was wrong, but r-rated movies and Pizza boxes? It facinates me to find that such silliness finds a welcoming audience.

Thanks all for tell me who this person is.

We are still raggin on Nixon - but he was a frickin' thief and liar. Like Harry Truman once said, "Nixon? Why if he caught himself telling the truth he'd tell a lie to cover it up." (Check Truman's autobiography for that one)But on to the present as I fear I digress yet again. Who cares? Does it change how I put my pants on in the morning? Geezz bunch of overmoralized morons rattling on about nothing with no means to back up their statements. I don't see her as any different from Farwell and what's his face (or is that what's her face?). Makin the big bucks scandalizin' in the name of The Lord -

Any Marine assigned to Camp David that said anything publicly is probably in the Pendleton Brig as we speak as there is a thing called confidentiality regarding Presidential Affairs.

Clinton is a man. A man with human feelings and frailties. I was not surprised that he was caught with his pants down, any more than I was surprised to see him with tears running down his face when he announced the Nigeria tragedy.

Bush is a hypocrite who still has people in jail in Texas for the exact same thing he did at school. Should he one day have the guts to say "Yes, I did it, let those people go" I will then respect him.

I wouldn't think that "R" rated movies during Clinton's presidency would be a problem - that can be chalked up to the biases of the writer - but I agree with the dress code, punctuality, and respect towards guests and staff. That's a very good example for all future presidents to follow, and reflects values, manners, whatever you want to call them, that speak well for the White House.

the real difference bewteen Liberals and Conservatives is that Liberals dont CARE what Conservatives do in private and whether they go to church...

I wonder when it will dawn on the Janet Parshalls of the world that MOST aspects of my morality and life are none of their business!!!...They don't GET to change basic rules of fairness by temporary majority rule...'right' is not a matter of anal-retentive, smarmy idiots deciding for ME what I'll be allowed to read and who will be allowed to spy on me to make sure I behave to their standards!

when Democrats are in office, they don't tend to put up posters and DEMAND abortions...etc..etc..etc....

Bush said some pretty stupid things when he first started running for Governor in Texas for the first time in the mid-1990s. The kind of stuff that got another Good Ol' boy named Clayton Williams into a lot of trouble and out of the race a few years earlier. It's all in your handlers and how they manage to put out those public relations fires. As a member of the captive audience here in Texas, I thought for sure enough people around the U.S. would have the good sense to examine Shrub's record and see what an idiot he is. But apparently not.

Who paid for Bush to get into office? Enron, of course. Have you noticed how that shit hit the fan lately? No wonder Cheney has spent so much time in "undisclosed" locations. That was HIS company before he was tapped to become the VP. . . and Enron has consistently been Bush's biggest supporter.

Gotta take a breath outside--the air is thick from all of these smoking guns. As I head out the door, I'll just note that if this were the Clinton presidency, there would have been strident congressional hearings and a special prosecutor in place already.

leprechaun and DougR,

I'd like to invite you into the topic under discussion.

Do you watch R rated movies?

Do you think that having then on Air Force one was indicative of a... "lingering stench"

Do you think that it is possible to be president and be perfectly punctual? (not that I don't think that the article exaggerates Bush's punctuality and Clintons lack of it.)

Are punctuality, aversion to R movies and dress codes the reason we vote for a candidate?

I am conservative and I am Christian. That is why people like Janet Parshall bug me so much. They claim to represent me then demonstrate a complete mockery of common sense.

GregF penned: "If Janet Parshall is a representative "Christian", I'll take the fuckin' lions every time, thank you very much".

Well, I think that's the point right there, isn't it?

No *one* person can really be representative of a large community of people. Clinton didn't represent all democrats, Dubya doesn't represent all republicans, neither of them represent(ed) all Americans, and Janet Parshall does not represent all Christians.

Sometimes though, each of them might say something with which we can connect. The real test is if we can admit to it when it comes from someone we would otherwise rather not be associated with.

There simply is no such thing as universal agreement in any situation.
