There's a post on the UK music folk newsgroup from Jim Lawton, saying he's heard that there's a Shellback website but he can't find any details about it. Last I heard, Derek Seed didn't even have e-mail..... Update???

Kitty

Hi Kitty, it's not a website as such, we have a members-only Yahoo Group where info is disseminated to members, photos posted and so on.

Derek is still a dinosaur, but that doesn't mean the rest of the Shellbacks have to agree with him!

One day perhaps, we will have a real website... In the meantime, if anyone wants Shellback info or contact details, I will be happy to help, as will several other Mudcatter/Shellbacks.

Noreen

Derek has a computer, he has had it for 6 months. It is still in the packaging, you can always contact me as well for info about. Thank you for your helpful comment Mr Red, is that where you would like to see us?

If anyone wants the URL for the Yahoo Group page then IM me and I'll get it for you. As for a proper website, I've just registered a membername with tripod so (hopefully) by the end of tonight there will at least be a 'Hello, this site is under construction' page, if nothing else. This should be located at;

http://members.tripod.co.uk/shellbackchorus/index.html

hope this helps

Edain

I've spoken to Derek, we're going to make the yahoo group members only and the tripod site as a public place, but probably won;t be able to much till college ends

I'll be seeing Derek in the next day or two and certainly before the year is out. I'll try to persuade him to open the box and get himself on line.

Even he he does not want to use the web maybe his instructions and set lists could be done on his computer and therefore be easier to read!

In reply to Kitty's original message I gave the URL to the bloke that asked in uk.music.folk.

Seasona greeting to all Shellbacks.

Dave

And seasons greetings to both Elizabeth and youself, Dave! I hope you enjoy your singing over the festive season.
Sorry that I won't see you at the Sidmouth Middle Bar Reunion this year, as I've succumbed to the attractions of the Shellback Kidderminster weekend. But I'm sure it will go swimmimngly, even without me!

The boar's head in hand, bear I ...
Alan

PS Keep up the good work on the website Edain. By the way, he hasn't mentioned it himself yet as I presume he is too modest, but Vaughan (aka Snuffy) is a whizz at websites, having set one up for the Shakespeare branch of CAMRA and I am sure he would be pleased to offer advice & help, time and other commitments permitting!

As a Luddite I shouldn't approve, as a Shellback- it's good. Hold on... If it doesn't take any work from the common man...?

Thanks to Snuffy we now have a skeleton site up at the tripod URL given above. We'll add to it as and when but hopefully it'll get padded out in the not too distant future.

Any questions, queries, comments, things u'd like to see there, don't hesitate to get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

Is there anywhere on the web that I might listen to 'The Shellback Chorus'

You perform a little to far away from me to make it in person.

Thank you.

We are in the process of selecting clips from our vast repert-wire for adding to the website, so watch this space!

You perform a little to far away from me...
we may be coming nearer on our grand tour next year- where are you, guest?

One other thing Noreen,

I (obviously) don't know who's in charge of your website, but let her/him know that a couple of decent (full length) mp3s would be far more likely to engender interest than any number of crappy 30 second real audio clips

Guest, I do the website admin (Snuff the coding). The taster tracks will be MP3s and I'll try to get them as big as the hosting will allow (I have a couple of semi-dormant accounts that cna be used as storage for them aswell) Probably won't be ful tracks but hopefuly a good length clip rathern than something small and weedy.

As soon as I can get my own comp back online (12th Dec ish) or I find a willing volunteer within the ranks of the Shellbacks who has the right software to do it.

Edain,

I've got a stack (50MB) of unused webspace with NTL. I also know how to make decent mp3s. PM me if I can help.

Thanks again

Edain
