Anyone out there familiar with this guy? I have watched the show a good bit ("Judging Amy" on CBS) and have really enjoyed the soundtrack which sadly at times isn't used to best effect. It's a decent enough show and I've been a Tyne Daly fan for a long time. The music is done by singer-songwriter Peter Himmelman and I was only familiar with a couple of his songs prior to the show, one of which is really a beauty called "Coming Apart at the Dreams." Last week the episode ended with a song that he hasn't released to an album yet, "The Best Answer Has No Sound," that as soon as I can find it is at the top of my list for songs to learn...a real grabber.

Just wondering if anyone else was familiar with him...

Only through the show, but wow! The show is based on the real-life of Amy Brenneman's (the star and producer) mother, who was a juvenile court judge. I have really been enjoying their use of Himmelman's music, too and love Tyne Daly's portrayal of her character.

Can't say I'm familiar with him, but I've heard of him. I believe he's from the Twin Cities area (of Minnesota) and our local PBS affiliate did a story about him a few years ago that I happened to catch. Practically the only thing I remember about him was that he was an observant Jew and, in one of those "slice of life" backstage scenes, he was trying to explain the Jewish dietary laws to someone.

He has an official website www.peterhimmelman.com which I found rather maddening to try to navigate, but it does have some tunes you can play.

His record company's site is more user-friendly. Here's another one. The Judging Amy website has some information about him, too. Google will find lots more.

Thanks for the personal info Jim....Sorry, I should have said that I'd run down all I could on the net already, but others may want to check on the sites. I found the name of the song through the message board on the "Judging Amy" fan website. His site is really tough to navigate at first, you're right. I spent several hours going through everything I could find on Google a week or so back, after the program aired.

Spaw, it did occur to me that you probably would have done a web search. But I was a bit curious about PH myself, and maybe someone else will make use of the links.
