Subject: Paw-Paw Bush From: Irish sergeant Date: 26 Dec 01 - 07:27 PM I'm looking for lyrics and Chords for a song about a paw-paw bush and that term is in the lyrics but I'm having no luck. Can anyone help? Kindest regards, Neil |
Subject: Lyr Add: PAW-PAW PATCH From: Sorcha Date: 26 Dec 01 - 07:50 PM Could it be patch instead of bush? I remember this one:
PAW-PAW PATCH
Chorus:
Come along, boys, and let's go find her.
Repeat Chorus:
She's a queen of old Hawaii.
Repeat Chorus:
She can teach you how to hulu.
Repeat Chorus: Melody is very close to "Git along home, Cindy" if not the same. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Paw-Paw Bush From: GUEST,Desdemona Date: 26 Dec 01 - 08:03 PM I learnt it from the Burl Ives record my dad had when I was little, and it was sung to the tune of "10 Little Indians". The refrain was "Picking up paw-paws; put 'em in your pocket, etc.... Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch". I don't think he had the stuff about Hawaii, though. |
Subject: Lyr Add: Paw-Paw Patch From: Sorcha Date: 26 Dec 01 - 08:07 PM OK, I am trying to hear both tunes in my head....you guys are right. To me, parts of Cindy are like 10 Little, but that is it, for sure. Thanks for the correction. Also, I forgot to put an add in the subject box, so I am doing that now. Please see my first post for lyrics. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Paw-Paw Bush From: Azizi Date: 24 Oct 04 - 10:21 PM Greetings, I just finished visiting an old thread about on gospel, spiritual, anthems in which WYSIWYG quoting these lines to make a point about the use of repetition in 19th camp meeting songs: Where, O where are the Hebrew Children! Where, O where are the Hebrew Children! Where, O where are the Hebrew Children! Safe in the promised land Upon reading this verse,I started singing it{to myself} using the melody to Paw Paw Patch/10 Little Indians. Is there a known connection between this religious song and Paw Paw Patch? And if so, does anyone know which came first? |
