Allan posted this link in the thread about this year's reolutions and I thought it deserved a better look-see. Typically of the 'Cat, it wanders around a lot, but has some very funny stuff in it too. What is most enlightening is reading a few of those resolutions or goals and seeing how they came out.......You may not want to...and then again.........

Naemanson for instance had a goal to fall in love and the lad just announced his engagement with a marriage scheduled for July. Meebo said he wanted people off his back and I think he may well have done it....at least I think he's spending his time living and growing in 3D, I certainly hope he is!

CHECK IT OUT FOLKS!!!.....especially before you commit this year!

Read my mind, Spaw! I was just thinking about starting one about what we might have accomplished over the past year and I'd forgotten all about THAT one! Thanks!

I haven't gotten outta Dodge, yet, but can finally see some light AND I am happy to say I did do more writing in the past year, in fact last night I just finished going through every single Thought for the Day thread, by PeterT and me, looking for some of my better stuff for a small book I am planning. This was time-consuming and I am glad I got it done before the end of this year. Still working on the other two books, but doing a lot more than before, on a more consistent basis!

I posted this on the other 'resolutions' thread, but I guess it fits in here as well...

For 2001. Boy, that's a tough one. I honestly don't know in which direction I need to move during the upcoming year. So I guess my first goal is to try to get some clarity about what comes next.

I believe I've got some clarity now about the direction I want my life to take, at least for the next year or so. So my hope and plan for 2002 is to continue moving in that direction. Wish me luck.

A-HA! I DID learn about 25 songs last year, and I can play in G and D and C now, as well as a couple of minors. I did not actually sell several pieces of writing, but I got a great gig with a salary and everythin' -- and it even involves some writing. The New Year's Eve party turned out to be very festive, with my date getting smashed by about 11 p.m. and casually putting his hand on the bottoms of at least two of my friends, which caused quite a stir in girlville. And I made it home in one piece, safe und zound.

This New Year's eve? Well, I did buy Champagne and Alize. And one of my good friends is coming to stay with me for a few days. She and I created a lovely little drinkie-poo for Y2K: Champagne, orange juice and Alize (which is passion fruit juice, cranberry juice and cognac). This is the most delicious drink you can imagine. We call it a French Kiss. We each bought three bottles of champagne and a wheel of brie that year and we decided if Armageddon actually happened at the turning of the century, we'd commit suicide by champagne and brie. That year turned into the next without incident (execpt, of course, feeling a bit bloated on Jan. 1) and I expect this one to as well.

Good wishes to all, WW

Though I wasn't here for new years last year, one of the things I promised myself I was going to do was never to spend more than 45 minutes a day on an internet forum.
Then, some time around mid-may 2001...

"A magazine dedicated to blues and folk music...worth a look I suppose."

Maybe I'll be able to pick a better one this year. =P

I just checked my post from last year's thread.

The 2000 resolutions that I carried forward to 2001 will be fine for '02. They're hardly touched.

Peter.

Yeah, the quicker you let that one go, the happier you'll be, Philibuster. One of us, one of us ...

I have this great organic carrot/orange juice in my fridge. If I mix it with champagne, is that, like, a health-food drink?

Yeah, but only if you throw it out before you mix it with the champagne. If you use Cold Duck instead, you can go ahead and mix it and THEN throw it out.

Amazing! My last year's New Years Resolution was " Find the PERFECT guitar!"

I came close...not 100% perfect, but the J-50 is about 80% there.

Oddly enough, later on in that thread, Mudcatter Troll said
"Congratulations Rick on your decision to buy a Gibson"!!!!!
Is this guy psychic or what?!

Rick

Last year I rang in the New Year in Mexico with two of my bestfriends. Snce then, I have now become "single mom and woman, lost (drum roll please!) 60 lbs., have two cuts on two CDs, and am now happier than I have ever been. This coming year I vow to continue being happy, learn to read the signals of love and protect myself being hurt from all the stupid mistakes I've made in the past. I wish all the best for all of you!

I can't find any that I made last year, so here's a link to a previous thread: New Years Resolutions, 1998 where I said I would:

Eat less
Exercise more
Play more
Write more
Appreciate more
Keep a positive attitude at work
Do what I can
Work on my resolutions . . .

About the only one I kept was to keep a positive attitude at work. I accomplished this by taking an early retirement offer, and now I'm positive it was a miracle!! This year I work on the others.
