Subject: Mudcatter of the year?How about that? From: skarpi Date: 30 Dec 01 - 07:40 PM Halló all, I got a thought? Here In Iceland we chose the men and the woman of the year. The person has done something good or just the person is great or for what ever other reason . So how about the Mudcatter of the year?? Any thought´s How about telling the name and why you chose him or her. There are many folks out there witch has done some many things, as fighting there healt and so on. Okei, I will start and say this, Max will get my point, becouse for his strong will to hold Mudcat going, I know this is not easy for him and I know he get´s some help, so he and his crew has my vote. Max would get it every year, and he IS Mudcat, so I don't think it's legal to nominate him. Pene Azul has done more for Mudcat and helped more folks than perhaps we realise. But again, what he does is FOR Mudcat, not IN Mudcat. There are a number of people here who always stand out in my mind because of various things including knowledge, common sense, ability, wit, willingness to help folks, and the way they can touch our hearts. I would never want to pick just one. |

The Time Man of the Year / Person of the Year is awarded for great influence on the affairs of the world not necessarily for the good. It was even given one year to the personal computer. Maybe we could ask him to come up with a list of categories and candidates and impose on him to implement a page with drop-down lists of candidates for each category. I'd include Funniest, Most Compassionate, Most Helpful, Most Erudite Musically, Most Entertaining, Most Pompous, strike that, I think I won it, and maybe Most Interesting Posts. What makes this site special is it's collective personality. There are people who have offered SO much help, but in threads that guitarists only look at. Same with ballad threads. Same with accordion threads. Same with threads where people are having serious personal difficulties, etc. etc. SO MANY help in so many different ways that may not be apparent to the group as a whole. The overwhelming dynamic is SO positive that the creepiest critics no matter HOW long they've been here, are forced to do their spewing under 'Guest' monikers. That in itself says a LOT for the site's community feel. I certainly won't be voting for individual honors, and I have no idea whether anyone agrees with me, but that's the way I feel. marty |
