Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Gareth Date: 06 Jan 02 - 07:08 PM All E-Mail addresses have now been removed from my computer address book - and tomorrow I will defrag and then run an incinerator on a 7 pass (US military specification) over my hard disc's non registered sectors. Can any Catter say (I use IE 5) why this should not work, I am anxius to remove any acusation that privacy has not been preserved. ( And to avoid spreading any virus or trojan I pick up) Gareth |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Gareth Date: 06 Jan 02 - 06:31 PM Gunther, the Royal Oak I visit is in Wales, not Scapa Floe.
The Royal Oak having closed (and I set this up before visiting) Now, the big one, the Winner of the Mudcatter of the Year Award 2001. It was a hard choice, but I can say without fear or favour it was a unanimous decision of our electoral college (me). First and foremost in the nominations as they rolled in, was the overwhelming gratitude to those who spent their time and effort keeping the site running, correcting our errors, passing out good advice, and information and acting as a moderating influence.
I am humbly proud to announce the Joint winners of the Mudcatter of the Year 2001In no particular order, the joint winners are: - Max, Joe, Pene, The Mudcat staff & helpers, The Joe Clones, The Mud Elves, & Everybody who took the time to answer, or help on a question..
All those involved in the nominations, and those who nominated, not thinking of themselves, are awarded the Thank you all for participating. Gareth |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: GUEST,Gunther Prien Date: 06 Jan 02 - 04:20 PM Zig-Zag course Gareth, U47 is still out there. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Amos Date: 06 Jan 02 - 03:38 PM That raises an issue for the Supreme Court, viz: what condition will Gareth be in when he returns from te Royal Oak, and does it still qualify him as possessed of th enecessary judgement? Or, mayhap, even enhance his judgement? A |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: AliUK Date: 06 Jan 02 - 01:14 PM This is unfair, I am the greatest ( though this may be due to my megalomania) mudcatter ever, nobody, but nobody is better than me...well...nobody except maybe Max, or catspaw or actuall come to think of it, anybody on the cat. Jeez whata revoltin' development. I seem to be the steam off of spaw's shit...damn! |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: gnu Date: 06 Jan 02 - 11:33 AM Hey, I note that there are some who did post to this thread that are not on the list, so my hypothesis is flawed, but I still think I must have been nominated for Most w/o a Life... or Thinnest Skinned... or Most Likely to Post When He Should Know Better... or... geez, even I don't like me. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: gnu Date: 06 Jan 02 - 11:26 AM It's there. And so am I ! Kinda looks like everyone who posted or was talked about in this thread is there. So, would the overall category be Most Without A Life ? |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: GUEST Date: 06 Jan 02 - 10:56 AM What about Guest???? I nominate GUEST |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: skarpi Date: 06 Jan 02 - 10:52 AM Halló all, Gareth- Great job, and that ´s the end of it right. You all see how many folks are nominated for doing so many great things so I know I vote for Max and I am gonna end this by saying this, we can all vote for us all that is the Mudcat Café, We are It all to gether right?. So on the 13th day of christmas here In Iceland or In (warmland) In the south raining winds all the best to you all and I hope we can help Max with his trouble . Your friend from Iceland Skarpi Iceland. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Gareth Date: 06 Jan 02 - 10:37 AM Results of a sort. Some quick work with Excell and here come the nominations. Please note that all that was required to make the list was one nomination in any category. BTW There did seem to be an American flavour to the participation - I don't suppose that this should be strange - This is more an American thing than than us reserved Brits, and other non amarican citizens. In Alphabetical order, paying no attention to catagory, spelling or number of nominations :-
Aine It was a good return - many participated. Now I could put this little list of names up for a run off ballot. But that would be unfair. Besides the joeclones & Mudelves could undoubtbly ensure that matters were resolved to thier entire satisfaction. Instead I am going to take an example out of the American Electorial system and form an electoral college of One (ME) Using all posible electronic methods, and carefully eliminating "hanging Chads" (Sorry Al !) I will anounce the winner(s) later tonite. As with Judge Roy Bean, judges decision will be final. Gareth Gareth |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Gareth Date: 06 Jan 02 - 08:53 AM gnu - no matter how hard you try to flatter me, I am not rigging this. And now an afternoon of trying to fit everything ( and one) into a spread sheet. Gareth |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: gnu Date: 06 Jan 02 - 07:55 AM Hope you drew the shades. And I hope you didn't have TOOO much grief from the fun pokers and nay sayers. No matter what anyone's view is, I'm sure we all appreciate the effort you put into this. Thanks... it was/will be fun. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Gareth Date: 06 Jan 02 - 05:13 AM Results delayed as I am collating them by hand. Gareth |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: GUEST Date: 05 Jan 02 - 11:49 PM DougR oh ppppplllllllllleassssseeeeeeeee - thats a pity vote. "I pledge allegiance............" come on say it with me Carol................. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: DougR Date: 05 Jan 02 - 11:39 PM Aw Geeze! I KAWNT believe it. I come down on Carol C's side on this thread! Skarpi, no offence, I think you had a great idea, but the more I see the postings, the more I become convinced Carol C, is right. Too many worthy candidates, and I am not comfortable making a choice in any of the categories. Well, Kendall might get my vote for the most contrary I guess. DougR |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Deda Date: 05 Jan 02 - 09:50 PM Didn't you read the thread? The nominations and results were rained out by the Mudcatters Most Likely to Lodge Ridiculous Complaints Union -- all of whose members are secret. Chairperson, MMLLRCU |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: GUEST Date: 05 Jan 02 - 08:25 PM well whatever became of the nominations and results? |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: katlaughing Date: 04 Jan 02 - 10:50 PM Yeah, WyoWoman? I heard he was really hung....:-) |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: AliUK Date: 04 Jan 02 - 07:09 PM Yeah bush is a metaphor for the female sexual organs and G.W is a bit of a c...no, I won't say it. Hey! that's twice I've used the word metaphor today. I think I should be nominated for the "Catter who uses the word Metaphor most in one day" award. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: kendall Date: 04 Jan 02 - 07:09 PM Harpgirl has that category wrapped up! |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 02 - 07:03 PM Ali-- I think there was at least one in there somewhere. In fact I thought you'd put some in there about bushes and such but maybe you were just being political... A |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: AliUK Date: 04 Jan 02 - 06:28 PM I was gonna stick around for a while and not post anymore wackyass shit. But I don't have any imediate health or serious money problems so I think I willl stick around a bit. Plus I don't like sharing awards. gimmme gimme gimmee |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Jan 02 - 05:49 PM Give it up Gareth......Lots of folks are worried about the high school aspect so I suggest we just keep making a few awards here and there like I've been doing. Matter of fact we could give you the "Catter Most Likely To Create a Poll on Any Damn Thing." Or we give Ali the "Catter Most Likely to Drop Out of Sight After Posting Some More of His Wackyass Shit." He might have to share that with khandu though......... How about we give Jeri the "Most Musically Promising Catter Who Has Dragonflies on Her Hooters?" (You oughta' see the trophy for that one!) And Shambles of course.....Roger has really found his niche as a Crusading Catter which fits well with his abilities to write long treatises on the simplest subject like "my day at the zoo." So for Sham, the "Catter Most Likely to Write 3 Epics Each Longer than War and Peace to Save All Used Bazouki Strings." And there is Banjer who definitely qualifies as the "Catter Most Likely to Have a Future in Bronzed Dog Shit." Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: AliUK Date: 04 Jan 02 - 05:44 PM "seminal"I s that some kind of sexual double entendre, or do I have a dirty mind. *BG* |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 02 - 03:48 PM Ali: You have made some very penetrating observations, and with feeling, as well. You are clearly in the running for Mudcat's Most Seminal Thinker... May your Cups run over! A |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: gnu Date: 04 Jan 02 - 03:00 PM What's your point ? |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: AliUK Date: 04 Jan 02 - 02:16 PM I think spaw should get the nomination for the Catter that Prevaricates the most.I mean, Damn! He just never says what's on his mind.He beats around the bush ( whose Bush I wouldn't like to say but he beats around it an afull lot I hear), skirts the issues and never, but never gets to the point. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: GUEST,Gusty Date: 04 Jan 02 - 12:36 PM Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Deda Date: 04 Jan 02 - 11:41 AM Hope I didn't ruin something here. When a relative of mine was nominated into an exclusive fraternity he threw the place into a bit of an uproar when he refused to go through the initiation. Am I gonna be summonsed into the principal's office now?????? |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Paul from Hull Date: 04 Jan 02 - 11:17 AM 'Spaw...its not just John....we're full of ideas like that in Hull.... I mean, take a look at THIS pile of cack for instance: http://www.humberbridge.co.uk/ *G* (Sorry no blue clicky) |

Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 Jan 02 - 10:45 AM You will NOT get me into this thread Spaw!! Besides Garguile now says that not only are you dead but yer pathetic as well! Popularity contests are like Political elections...the moment the winners are declared they become corrupt. I prefer my inner cliques to be pure as the driven snow! Guest Poopers |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Jan 02 - 10:10 AM Drunk is unfortunately the only way I can get anyone Amos so I have to go with it.............**sigh**..................But I have to say that watching you and that anteater was entertaining although the anteater seemed less than satisfied. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 02 - 09:43 AM Spaw: I appreciate the fandango and all. But your sample of my sexual performance is not a fair basis on which to spread calumnies. You got me drunk first. A. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Jan 02 - 09:26 AM See? That's Amos! Quick and absolutely amazing!!! Sorrowfully, his sexual performance is only quick, but damn that songwriting really is truly amazing!!!!! I'm now waiting for Mick to fart his spud and Rick to go off on the F Chord......... Til then, how about we give John from Hull the "Catter most likely to post wacky ideas while under the influence." or maybe one for Wolfgang as the "Catter most likely to throw the wet blanket of logic and documentation on an otherwise fun discussion?" Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: gnu Date: 04 Jan 02 - 07:36 AM To add to a previous post... I AM enjoying this thread. Amos... priceless !!! No vote - no sale. And I was going to donate all of the proceeds to my old high school's music department. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Morticia Date: 04 Jan 02 - 12:57 AM I think you're wasted on washing the bedpan, mate...anyway, with only one, I have it covered, so to speak *BG*. |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: katlaughing Date: 04 Jan 02 - 12:34 AM LMAO!!! Well-done, Amos!! |
Subject: RE: Mudcatter of the year - Nominations Plea From: Nerd Date: 04 Jan 02 - 12:16 AM All in all, I agree with Deda, the popularity contest thing is SO high school. On the other hand, any thread that gets Amos to write a song that good is worthwhile. Amos, you're a f---ing genius! (which is only surpassed by being a genius f---ing!)
