The song is on the Battlefield Band's CD "Quiet Days". Anyone know of any further lyrics? Also which chords are used?

Unicorn I have the words and music in front of me but not me bloody glasses!
There are 2 verses of 4 lines and a 3rd of 3 lines with a chorus of 4 lines. It's in G and was written by Alan Reid and John McClusker. Everything else is printed in size 8.
I'll type it up tomorrow.
KJ

The River
Words Alan Reid
Music John McClusker/ Alan Reid

Quiet (G)days upon the (C)ri(G)ver, quiet (Em)times in the shipping (D)trade
No more freighters to de(C)liver, no more (G)tankers to be (D)made
Blow of (Em)hammer gone for(C)e(Bm)ver, clash of (Em)metal squeal and (D)din
No more (C)wailing (D)of the (G)hooter, flushing (D)out a thousand (G)men.

Chorus
They can't bring (C)back this (D)old (G)shipbuilding
No re(D)turning to your father's (G)ways
But these re(C)minders by the (G)water
Linger (D)on from yester(G)day

Rows of slipways stand forgotten, empty yards with rotten frames
Silent quays lie abandoned, they once were busy in better days
This old shipbuilding gone forever, no more flags on launching day
Days of pride and days of sorrow, were they as golden as they say.

Quiet (G)days upon the river, quiet (Em)times upon the (D)quay
High a(C)bove a seagull passes (G)over
Down the (D)river and out towards the (G)sea.

I should have added that I have no idea of the speed of the tune. I've not had the good fortune to hear it.
I did hear the band live for the first time when they came to Cornwall last year and I can't have ever enjoyed a concert so much. The band looked and sounded as though they were enjoying it as much as the audience.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back on-line. Thanks a million KJ. Thought you might like to know (if you don't already) that the song was written about the River Clyde and its deserted shipyards. I think it's a beautiful song and it should be sung slow and with feeling! Thanks again - lots!
