I learned this tune in 1944.It was written by Jimmy and Leon Short in 1943 and recorded by Ernest Tubbs and I couldn't find it anywhere in the DT or in a thread so I thought I would post it.

Time After Time

Time after time I have said we were through
Time after time we have started anew
Time after time I have trusted in vain
Time after time you have cheated again

It's hard to believe that you don't care for me
I still remember how you used to be
My heart keeps crying for days that are past
Days that were blissful and to sweet to last

Now time after time I have lain wake at night
Hoping and praying some day you'd do right
But time after time you have shattered my dreams
Till there's nothing left me to live for it seems

I've always loved you and of course I still do
But no love can stand all the pain I've been through>br> This is the end dear forever we part
For my soul has died just the same as my heart

Now time after time I have loved you in vain
I don't want you now even if you should change
I wish you luck dear wherever you be
And if your life seems empty don't blame it on me

George I'd forgotten some of the words to this song and I looked for several years before I finally found it at a yard sale in a highschool students note book. You can find it in a box set of Ernest Tubbs but they want $187:00 for the set and that is the only way they will sell you the recording Louie Roy
