They'll win 7. They're up against themselves in one category so they can't win 8.

Perhaps it is a vitamin deficiency that I suffer from, but, I have never been impressed with U2. They have always come across as pretentious to me. Now, if you were talking 'bout "Martha and the Vandellas"... ;D

There are categories that are more relevant--Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer have been nominated for the fifth, or is it, sixth time, under children's albums, and I think that is of more interest to us than the U2 business--hope they get one, they deserve it, and, let's face it, Elmo is really getting old--

Well, ignoring the obvious troll talking to itself, I'm not overly impressed with this year's selections. The 'best New Artist' list I saw didn't (to my eyes) appear to feature anyone 'new' at all - it is all duets of R&B/pop/rap artists. Yes, one half of the duet may qualify as 'new'. But I thought the purpose was to honor a recording by an up and coming talent, not a veteran giving a new artist a lift?

I think it'd be nice if the "O Brother" soundtrack wins Best Album. Not for any professional or such reasons - I just think it'd be nice to actually have the slightest desire to listen to an "Album of the Year" for once.

But other than that, I think to anyone not particularly in love with Top 40 music and the latest trends, the Grammy awards may have lost most of their relevance. It's almost like the Oscars - more a list of what to avoid then a mark of quality.

Sean I'm obviously not talking to myself - you read it and responded. Mission accomplished!

Why Sorcha Irish no like?

L'album ''All That You Can't Leave Behind'' devrait rafler de nombreux trophées, d'autant que le premier single, ''Beautiful Day'', sorti longtemps avant le CD, avait déjà décroché deux Grammies l'an dernier. Les Irlandais seront même en compétition contre eux-mêmes.

I'm still trying to figure out how "Beautiful Day" won song of the year at last year's Grammy's, but the album from which it came is nominated for "album of the year" this year, along with several other songs from it. Was the "Beautiful Day" single released before the Sept. 30 cutoff last year, followed by the official album release after that date?
