Subject: My father wants Blues songs, need help From: GUEST,Paddon Briskin Date: 06 Jan 02 - 02:01 PM Hi all. My dad recently asked me to find some Blues songs that he could listen to while he he's on the stationary bike that we have. I'm completely at a loss of what to get for him. I don't think that he has any specific tastes when it comes to music, other than a genre depending on his moods. I don't think that he knows the different blues artists that well, as he asked me "not to get anything by the Blues Brothers." If anyone knows of any album or playlist that I could get him for his next birthday, please E-Mail me at admiralpaddon@hotmail.com or post it here (E-Mail is preferred), and I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance! Paddon Briskin admiralpaddon@hotmail.com |

Subject: RE: Help: My father wants Blues songs, need help From: Mountain Dog Date: 06 Jan 02 - 08:07 PM Hi, Paddon Another suggestion: DirectTV (and probably most of its competitors in the cable/dish game) have a couple of dozen digital music channels. I've been pleasantly surprised that the "Blues" channel on our version of DirectTV has a broad playlist, ranging from Robert Johnson to Robert Cray and makes decent listening for those times I'm not able or inclined to tend the CD player or tape deck. Check it out if your Dad has access to DTV or similar. It'll not only provide him with a hands-free 24/7 playlist, but he can get info on the artists and tunes that really appeal to him right off the TV screen. (How about that, 500 channels and there actually ,is something on!) Best of luck - and by all means, encourage your father to check out the world of the blues in whatever fashion works for him! |
Subject: RE: Help: My father wants Blues songs, need help From: GUEST,frankie Date: 06 Jan 02 - 08:39 PM Hi Paddon, Rhino records has an extensive series called Blues Masters with volumes dedicated to regions (Delta, Chicago etc.) types of blues (country, slide etc.)and specific artists. The ones I have are generally excellent and contain a lot of classic recordings as well as some more obscure ones. Rhino probably has a website and you can usually find these at most music stores in the blues bins under various artits. f |
