Subject: Help! I am lost in the Mud! ...Bojangles.. From: Bojangles Date: 07 Mar 98 - 01:37 PM How do I get to view other peoples messages and questions? I love this site but am having a hard time finding my way around. I would greatly appreciate help from any experienced navigator of the site. I have used the database and search functions but don't yet understand about traces and threads. I would greatly appreciate some explanatory email or a phone number that I could call. THANKS! Subject: Trying to help Bojangles From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Mar 98 - 04:41 PM Well, Peter, I guess the best way to learn is just to hang out here and goof around. If you make mistakes, it's unlikely that you will do serious damage. To get the best out of Mudcat, it helps to register. Your registration allows Mudcat to give you a "cookie" that will identify you when you log onto Mudcat. Most of the features of Mudcat work without registration, but not the private messaging and some other functions. You started a "thread" when you posted the previous message, and my message here is the second one in the "thread." The "subject" of my message is "Trying to help Bojangles," but we don't really use the "subjects" for anything essential here, so you can ignore them, if you like. On the top of the "Forum Home" page, you will see a number of menu items, among which is "Forum Search." Click on that link, and a screen will come up which will allow you to search the forum in various ways. Play around with it a bit, and you'll soon become an expert. Well, come to think of it, maybe none of us is a search expert. This Thread indicates that even the Searchmeister, Wolfgang, has had his share of problems with search functions here. I've never seen anybody better than Wolfgang is at finding things on the Internet. If he has problems, then the rest of us will, too. Nonetheless, it's relatively easy to find most things here if you fool around a bit. Now, once you've mastered navigation of Mudcat, we'll point you to a few lessons in HTML. Click here for an introduction. Hope that helps, Peter. -Joe Offer- Joe-Offer@msn.com |
